Good news for Westbound drivers around Hurontario; they have shifted the barriers around and the left hand lane does not cut out anymore! So if you want to stay in the left lane, it is no longer an issue!

Found this site that explains that in 2008 they built the new McLaughlin bridge to accomodate the new 12-lane system. Also, the site has a bit more information about the project, not alot though. http://www.401expansion-mississauga.ca/background.html

It seems to me the Mavis overpass will completely come down. Not that it is that old, but it will most definately be upgraded to the new standard with steel beams extended over the length of the bridge to support the weight of such a long structure. If you look at the McLaughlin overpass, it is...

I STILL do that drive every day from Kitchener. But I have given up all hope of it being clear in the morning until the construction is done. Or at least this phase of it anyway. So I go into work late/stay late, so I am in the area around 9:45 am now and it is usually fine.

They are continuing to rip up the old asphalt in the express lanes now. They have made pretty good progress and it looks like they have ripped up a little over a kilometer of road or so starting about 500m from the 410. Interesting though, why is there no concrete bed underneath the old express...

Yep, was driving eastbound through that area and it look like a wreck. They now have some heavy machinery around the 410 ripping up parts of the road. This will cause absolute chaos in the afternoon rush. The collectors is already brutal through that area during the afternoon/evening. I wonder...

Where are these pics on Asphaltplanet.ca? I can't seem to find the new construction pics, only older 401 pictures...

And only the westbound traffic on the 401 has access to Allen Rd from the express system, eastbound needs to be in the collectors. I wonder why that is though?...

Does anyone know: If there will be a third lane in the westbound express system after the Hurontario exit from the express? Right now, after the exit, there are only 2 lanes until the Hurontario entrance. Why is thre an entrance/exit to Hurontaio from the express lanes? Shouldn't there...

Just too add to the construction part of this thread. I noticed a digital sign informing motorists that the right lane is closed on the EB 401 from Kennedy to ? (Didn't see the other street). It was open when I drove through at about 6:15 am, but this may be the reason for the extra back-log of...

That's pretty unbelieveable that this has been an issue for almost 20 years and only now are they hopefully constructing a solution. Well either way, I was in the area at about 6am this morning, and of course we slowed down at WC but I can say that the traffic was alot looser than at 6:30...
