    Toronto Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

They've dug out tree pits in the larger planters, so I expect the trees will be coming in shortly.

Automation: the answer to our prayers?

IMO, the greatest benefit of automated systems, in particular with more intermediate capacity systems, is the ability to adjust the level of service in real-time to respond to demand.

    Beautifying Subway Entrances (TTC Report)

Wellesley will be getting "prettified" when the second entrance work begins. They're working at redesigning the entire front facade of the station.

Toronto Bathurst Quay Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | Kearns Mancini

On July 28, 2009, the governments of Canada and Ontario announced the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund for Not-for-Profit Organizations. Metronome submitted an application on August 18, 2009 for partial funding of phase one construction.

There's a Metronome website up (which I found off a Facebook ad, of all places) that claims that Panasonic has pledged $5-million for the naming rights. I thought this was a pipe dream? http://metronomecanada.com/

I hope there are plans to replace the seating that was in front of the blank wall of the Bay store. Movable seating with tables would be fantastic in that location. I also wonder if the hot dog vendors will be welcome back in that location... or if it will be a Toronto a la Cart location....

    Simpsons Tower Nightime Lighting

Why isn't Commerce Court still lit up like this? It was beautiful:

    Toronto First Canadian Place Rejuvenation | 298.08m | 72s | Brookfield | MdeAS Architects

It's a lot of washrooms.. at least one set per floor, as well as any public washrooms in the public areas.. that's at least 100 washrooms.

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

I don't know if I'd want Triple 5 involved. West Edmonton Mall is a haphazard mess under their watch, completely disoriented and looking increasingly dated. The company seems to want to spend very little in their signature property, and what they do spend is to make it look extremely tacky. And...

    TTC Station & Vicinity Maps

Hong Kong's are a favourite of mine. Not only is the map well designed, but it also provides a listing of nearby locations by category: http://mtr.com.hk/jplanner/images/maps/cen.pdf

Toronto scraps museum project, plans to raze site instead

Which I find is why the Malting Silos are so important - they and the Parliament silos effectively bookend the "new" central waterfront with reminders of where we came from.

They ripped up and repaved the intersection at Bloor and Yonge last night. At long last it looks like the construction on the intersection is coming to an end for the time being. BTW: shouldn't this be in the Projects and Construction forum instead of "Toronto Issues"?

    Toronto Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

The Bloor-Yorkville BIA wanted to have construction work limited during TIFF, which is a reason why there was the rush to get the section east of Yonge significantly completed. They pretty much worked through last winter, so there's no reason to believe that work won't ramp up again once the...

    Toronto Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

They've installed some granite covers for the tree pits. I really hope this doesn't end up keeping too much water away from the trees. Without water, no matter how good of a root system they've put in, the trees will still die.

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

The new trainsets will NOT be going to the Bloor-Danforth. The plan is, and always has been, for the new trains to be on the YUS (where they're needed), and the T1s would move to the BD to replace the H-series.
