CEO of the Bay stated he planned on converting several prominent Bay locations into Saks. It won't be through expansion, at least initially.

Perhaps he means the prospect of potentially making Yonge two lanes similar to what was done during Celebrate Yonge.

So your counter is essentially that it is just my opinion. Well obviously. And all your statements are just your opinion. And by the way, it's because you're trying to equate the loss of a stretch of nondescript single family homes in a highly desirable area to: 1) demolishing kilometers of...

If they own 62, 64 Charles Street and 61 Hayden, there has to be another tower planned. Here's a screenshot of the property boundaries from the city's website: Not quite as large as I had above, but still probably big enough.

Density transfer perhaps? I couldn't see them spending that money on a garden, let alone being allowed to tear down a heritage structure for one. This property combined with the parking lot to the north surrounding 16 Hayden would give more than enough room for another tower however: Edit...

Talon, developer and majority owner of the building fired themselves? The presidential suite does still have a page on their website but it doesn't show up under booking so you may be right there. Why wouldn't they just split it up into smaller units? Too expensive of a retrofit?

You're examples aren't even close to comparable. The homes torn down were nothing special. And the trees weren't integral to the ecosystem of High Park, despite the rattlings of The Star. Besides, I bet this project will improve the stretch. More pedestrian friendly, engaging street with...

Why would they? The post office plot seems large enough. I don't think it would make a very good sales centre.

It doesn't look bad from a pedestrian point of view, I specifically meant when viewed from the fairy. Panning left to right you have Harbour Castle, Captain John's, this site under construction, Red Path, vacant land and the Port Lands. Granted Sugar Beach, Corus and George Brown are in the...

Real brick, wow kudos on that. However, this thing is going to be incredibly dark between the dark windows, black spandrel, black precast and black brick. Wish there was some kind of accent to break it up.

Well it's not that large of a site. You'd need the H&M and French Connection as well, which of course is possible. But even with all that you're looking at a site roughly the same size as Uptown's footprint directly to the south. I would imagine there would also be some tower separation issues.

Once this project is finished with some landscaping it's going to do a long ways towards making the city look less like a dump when leaving the docks.

Thanks for the update MafaldaBoy Seriously, what's with the balcony glass? Put up a panel and didn't like it so they ordered new? Looks like we get to see the long-awaited roof element soon though!

That's a poor idea, sorry. Most interesting and engaging retail is independent and can't afford the rent that would go along with large spaces on main streets. Think narrow resto's, cafes and clothing shops along Queen and King. Sure not every space can be filled by such tenants and a certain...

The building will not go 'on top'. There is underground parking proposed so it is coming down. Best we can hope for is facade retention. Although I suspect they're aiming for reconstruction based on their previous statements about the poor condition of the facade.
