Can't go too wrong with Granderson for a year- his experience will help and he probably has enough left in the tank to be at least serviceable. I like what they've done up the middle most of all with some young talent and much needed assurance. Need another decent pitcher now and we might have a...

    Guelph's Petrie Building Saved.

Guelph once had some stunning architecture downtown. I love this building- a real head turner, my immediate thought when I first saw it 20 yrs ago was I hope at least this one gets restored. It looks fantastic.

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

I think heated sidewalks for Ste. Catherine are unlikely, or at least not for the 2.2 km breadth of the project.

Well it is a box, the unzipped corners are an attempt at some sort of elan but to me just register as an afterthought. The awkwardly placed pole seems an attempt to make up for a height deficiency. The pavilion is the most egregious part of this project to me though. Destroying the city's purest...

Agree it's not great architecture, replacing A with B grade design. The pavilion in particular needs a rethink. The wavy corners on the tower do seem like a lazy design afterthought and the pole on top is especially ridiculous. Also agree that the tower looks rather bulky and schtumpig in the...

The unbalanced mishmash of that fictional tower reminds me of Russian futurism and constructivism.

I may be dating myself but I think it's a BC based site and first started as "Nalyd's Skyscraper page". This was many moons ago.

Perhaps to some extent Toronto's success as a place to live and the high demand for condos is a contributing factor- the industry is just building quickly to meet demand. Toronto's boom also coincides with an age where glass curtain and the cheaper window wall make building projects less...

    Toronto 670 Progress Avenue | 171.3m | 54s | Fieldgate | Arcadis

It's a nice mix of low, mid and highrise. At street level it looks very promising, but I agree about the towers- we've seen these many times before and the eyes just glaze over.

If they are hellbent on replacing Pei's buildings then I hope they redesign this into something a little more exciting and groundbreaking. This looks like it could be a peripheral tower at the Hudson Yards complex- atrium included. Why not something a little more daring and neo-futurist- not...

Nick Leahy, a spokesman for Apple, said the issue stemmed from a technical malfunction in the roof’s heating system: "The roof has a warming system that's built into it. It needed some fine-tuning and it got re-programmed today. It's hopefully a temporary problem." Just a software glitch then :)

Speaking of falling ice and Apple, the new store by Foster in Chicago is having a significant issue: Apple’s New Foster+Partners-Designed Chicago Flagship Store Battered by Winter Weather They didn't seem take into account the severe Winter weather either.

I like the strong lines of the facade, at street level it should still dominate even with the glass intrusion. (http://www.artisreit.com/office/415-yonge-street/)

I like the angled planes and it will have a slim profile viewed from east/west. Hard to get around that stark incongruity with the original building. I do quite like the sturdiness and strong lines of that original building, and with so much characterless glass and spandrel going up everywhere...

If there are in fact no balconies I would prefer more creativity with the building form.

The tower addition might be interesting if each of those faceted planes are in fact at different angles. Something like this facade on Chicago's Michigan Ave perhaps: (http://interactive.wttw.com/loop/architects/krueck-sexton) If they are just etched lines then I agree it has a sort of early...
