    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but it looks like the same style of rigid overhead conductors are used on the Finch LRT. I just noticed in this photo from the new CLC, could very well be the same in other locations on Eglinton though I haven’t taken notice. Looking north at Finch and Hwy 27:

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

The context of this project application do not appear to address the shed and its existing platforms. The new platforms on the south will include canopies and no roof over tracks. Documents show overhead catenary to be installed on top of platform canopies. Nothing to address the platforms in...

Wide Front St in Canary is killing it as a place to walk/hang out? Whereabouts? I see no issue with the redeveloped streetscape here, for pedestrians I think the less appealing parts of Front St are west of Trinity.

What? You’ve never taken the ol’ Northbound Southbound?

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Imagine flexi posts positioned like this with some kind of slim signage attached. Would be a good early warning to drivers to move into the right lane. Could be one of the cheapest temporary measures, considering the future reconstruction of the street. I’d definitely also like to see a solid...

Forgive me if it’s already been discussed, what is the idea here behind the building? Is there a plan to renovate St. Lawrence Hall and connect the offices? I may be wrong but I think the great hall is above on the third story so it would not be impacted by a hall here. EDIT: already...

    Chicago BNSF line?

Drove to visit in-laws in Aurora back in February, took the BNSF round trip to Chicago Union one day. It’s relatively cozy and scenic all the way. It travels parallel with town roads for some suburban areas of the route so there are lots of buildings facing towards you while you ride.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Without moving the streetcar tracks north or south, you’d probably have to take out a whole lane to serve as a bidirectional bike path. Considering plans for extension of the Wellington bike path and the Adelaide + Richmond ones, I don’t think the city would bother throwing lanes in here too...

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I thought my story on Friday would get my point across well enough. Got plenty of clips from the show too but that’d push us way off topic!

Wasn’t going to bother sharing these from Thursday but just to be clear there is a LOT more lighting now. And one bonus shot in beer-vision:

Less photo spam than The One thread that’s for sure.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Making large industrial lands inhabitable and attractive to buyers can be a massive effort, especially with the height restrictions here. Tough to maximize profit when you mass just a few acres and plop down 5+1’s or 10+1’s next to car dealerships, warehouses and parking lots. Moreover would the...

Many fewer cars from Unwin, probably just uber drivers very familiar with the traffic patterns. Decent line up of cars on Commissioners as well, though the majority of visitors come from the west via Lake Shore.

Made a rare trip to Rebel Thursday night, awesome show, one for the ages. However, I’m sure this won’t come as a surprise to many, the traffic situation was laughable. I walked from near distillery loop around 12am when inbound traffic was backed up about 1.5km, spilling out to lake shore...

    Toronto King-Liberty GO Station | 21.39m | 3s | Metrolinx | WSP

It’s possible UPX won’t stop here. For one there’s the ‘express’ nature but also the station drawings make me skeptical. I believe the UPX would run on the tracks adjacent to the single island platform but there’s no indication of level boarding on the platform. The platform is aligned as...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I can appreciate the sentiments here, I personally haven’t ordered delivery for many years since my days as a busy (lazy) student. But I do think these delivery services serve a good purpose. Rather than relying on customers from a very local area (or active individuals willing to travel like...

Brilliant! On the topic, Gladstone just put out this ad about luxury condos in the CN tower (link). 100% very serious submission! Edit: oops just noticed it on the UT home page!

Toronto St Lawrence Market North | 25.3m | 5s | City of Toronto | Rogers Stirk Harbour

My feelings are the complete opposite, I’d much rather clutter up the Jarvis side than the market lane park. Jarvis is just a funnel to/from the Gardiner, very uninviting for travellers outside of cars. I live a stones throw away and always use alternate routes instead of walking on Jarvis, not...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Image brought forward for all: This is King eastbound at Church. Essentially rather than just signage to state restrictions, the primary traffic light can remain red. The restriction will be more obvious to drivers and disobeying will be punishable by the Highway Traffic Act, it’s running a red...

    Toronto Ontario Line: King-Bathurst Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

Neat! I hadn't paid close attention to the shaft geometry. I figured they'd be rectangular like the street level station footprint, guess I glossed over these plans previously.
