I agree. With limited resources, I'll take just Yonge! But maybe one day, bike lanes will be as automatic as putting a sidewalk next to a road when built.

Haha, YES! When I'm on Yonge during rush hour as well, you don't see cars backed up going south until around Elmhurst/Greenfield. South of Sheppard to the 401 is the problem area and the City planners are not touching the 3+3 lanes there. There's a reason why these planners are employed and...

The food court is filling up fast! Potbelly Sandwiches, A&W, Thai Express and Grill it Up are coming in. No more Mr. Sub and Burger King, so far.

Well, that was short lived! Solutions is closing and having an end-of-lease sale.

The reason I didn't reply is because it makes no difference to the outcome. Yonge will be getting them, not D&B. In a perfect world, all 3 should have lanes. But if you really want to know, I prefer Yonge because that's where all the destinations are. If it were left to D&B, I guarantee you...

Haha! You're still claiming you know who the locals and non-locals were by how they look and how they vote! And if they vote against your vision, they don't live in the area. Right? Hahahaha! Right? Conspiracy theory indeed! Future cycling volume will change, wait and see! ;) No need to...

I agree that elected officials will implement a plan that benefits the majority, that is why they had the study done with the locals, and this proposal accomplishes that! You're just sore that it didn't go your way. Suck it up! The current proposal will benefit FUTURE cyclists in the area...

What a nightmare! I'm glad you're not a planner, who have expertise in these things. The planners, with all those years of experience and education, even believe the centre median of trees is a waste! They left it there to appease the dinosaurs left in the neighborhood. The area is evolving...

Your assumptions are remarkable. Let's revisit this conversation after the the street has been RE-imaged and hope that you're wrong, for the businesses sake. I always thought RioCan was a business and looking to make money. Maybe you can petition them to lower their rent and change the...

Just read this over at another thread in this forum. Could this be the problem?

Just read the article and, as a cyclist and driver, its pretty easy to understand what's going on. You're right, it's probably about parking, for BOTH cars and bikes. It hit me when I read the Basecamp Climbing gym guy said, “I can tell you that a very large portion of our members are...

Yes, I've been to Chinatown. You do have a point that many use transit. Most of them carry a cart or several bags of groceries on the 510 streetcar. People do the same on the 97 Yonge from NoFrills or FoodBasics. But, I'm seeing more and more people using cargo bikes or trailers to do their...

Really? Please stick to facts and don't make things up. Does 16 lanes of the 401 south of it not bring enough people? Have you checked out World on Yonge up at Doncaster? It's deserted! Do you really think people north of Finch are EmeraldPark's target consumers? Why don't you ask Bill123...

Where does this elevator (left of the stairs) lead to?

"Elevator to Subway" seems to indicate there will be an accessible means to both lines. Can anyone confirm an elevator is being installed at the south end of the Yonge platform?

Did a quick streetview search and I couldn't find any. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with those buildings. Not sure if anyone else here noticed, the Sheppard Centre even had/has Art Deco styled ceiling domes when you walked through the mall.

Would this have been the last art deco-like facade remaining in North York?

Is this the same Allwyn's as in Allwyn's Bakery on Underhill?

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

I rarely use the bell when I commute on roads. If I see a driver backing up, I'd rather stop than face a losing battle. I also drive and know these bells are useless to people insulated in steel, possibly with radios/music on. I use the bell often on multiuse trails to warn people I'm coming...
