Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

If we assume the DRL will eventually go to sheppard, it would be silly to have Sheppard terminate at VP, when you could have a single transfer at Don Mills.

On Don Mills, north of Eglinton, isn't there enough room to run the DRL elevated? Definitely around York Mills, and they could expropriate some parking lots, e.g. Shops at Don Mills, Fairview.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

At this point, only two options make sense to me: 1) Keep the RT, upgrade to Skytrain specs (as much as possible, with minimum shutdowns). Sure LRT is better, but it's not that much better that it's worth replacing the existing line for billions. If capacity is an issue, you build more lines...

Now that I thought about it more, Queen would be better as an underground LRT, that could branch above ground to Lakeshore/Queensway in the west and the Beach/Kingston Rd in the east (although the East may have to remain separate streetcar routes due to lack of source space). The heavy rail DRL...

If they go with Bay/City Hall rather than Yonge & Osgoode, there should be extra stations at Church/Jarvis and John/McCaul.

    Amalgamation

I was actually thinking the opposite. I think It would be better to break up the larger cities/boroughs, to have several around 100k - 300k. Since there would be GTA level government dealing with regional issues, I think a smaller local government would be better at dealing with neighborhood...

    Amalgamation

The whole GTA should be amalgamated, however, each city should retain more autonomy than the current City of Toronto structure. Maybe a borough system.

The DRL should be financed with tolls on the DVP/Gardiner, highways that the DRL will roughly parallel.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

I liked the idea of the City Hall station on the Relief Line. Even better would be to double track the Queen section of the line to route some GO trains there, combining the Relief Line with that proposal for a GO Lakeshore Queen tunnel.

To save money and time. there is a lot of space for an above ground alignment north of Eglinton, and especially north of Sheppard if it were to be extended to Finch, Seneca, or Steeles.

Here's my map, mostly everything that's already planned, with a few modifications:

Here's my alternative alignment for a Scarborough Subway. Past Sheppard, take it along the rail corridor to provide a connection to Malvern: And here's my relief line extension. I don't think it should go to Richmond Hill; if it goes past Finch it should cross the DVP to Steeles & VP, or...

How long is your regular daily commute?

30 minutes. 5 minute walk to St Clair West, 20 minutes to St Andrew, 5 minute walk to TD Tower.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Whatever happens, I hope the silly name "SmartTrack" is replaced.

Just make it $1 per 10km.

Well here's what I hope fare integration looks like: Old city of Toronto, york & east york become fare zone 1. North york, Scarborough & Etobicoke become fare zone 2. York region, durham & peel become fare zone 3. The outer regions (Simcoe, Halton, etc) can become fare zone 4. Lower...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I take both Spadina and St Clair streetcars literally every day for work (I'm a foot courier). I've never seen any problems with cars on the tracks. I'm not denying it happens (obviously it does), but I don't think it needs a drastic, big budget solution.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

So why doesn't the lrt just pull into both Humber college and Etobicoke general.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I'd rather see the Sheppard subway connected to downsview, it seems like a waste to convert it to lrt. It would be useful for the network, especially if a drl/don mills subway is built. Finch can take care of the crosstown route. I'm still hoping we'll get a don mills subway up to Sheppard...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Wouldn't it be better to skip the Sheppard lrt for a finch EAST lrt? That way you have a continuous crosstown route from Humber college to morningside. Bring the Scarborough subway one more stop to finch. Finch east is actually one of the busiest bus routes, busier than finch west. Then we can...
