If we assume the DRL will eventually go to sheppard, it would be silly to have Sheppard terminate at VP, when you could have a single transfer at Don Mills.

On Don Mills, north of Eglinton, isn't there enough room to run the DRL elevated? Definitely around York Mills, and they could expropriate some parking lots, e.g. Shops at Don Mills, Fairview.

At this point, only two options make sense to me: 1) Keep the RT, upgrade to Skytrain specs (as much as possible, with minimum shutdowns). Sure LRT is better, but it's not that much better that it's worth replacing the existing line for billions. If capacity is an issue, you build more lines...

I was actually thinking the opposite. I think It would be better to break up the larger cities/boroughs, to have several around 100k - 300k. Since there would be GTA level government dealing with regional issues, I think a smaller local government would be better at dealing with neighborhood...

The whole GTA should be amalgamated, however, each city should retain more autonomy than the current City of Toronto structure. Maybe a borough system.

The DRL should be financed with tolls on the DVP/Gardiner, highways that the DRL will roughly parallel.

I liked the idea of the City Hall station on the Relief Line. Even better would be to double track the Queen section of the line to route some GO trains there, combining the Relief Line with that proposal for a GO Lakeshore Queen tunnel.

To save money and time. there is a lot of space for an above ground alignment north of Eglinton, and especially north of Sheppard if it were to be extended to Finch, Seneca, or Steeles.

I take both Spadina and St Clair streetcars literally every day for work (I'm a foot courier). I've never seen any problems with cars on the tracks. I'm not denying it happens (obviously it does), but I don't think it needs a drastic, big budget solution.

So why doesn't the lrt just pull into both Humber college and Etobicoke general.

I'd rather see the Sheppard subway connected to downsview, it seems like a waste to convert it to lrt. It would be useful for the network, especially if a drl/don mills subway is built. Finch can take care of the crosstown route. I'm still hoping we'll get a don mills subway up to Sheppard...
