    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I can't really see people using Crosstown to access businesses on Eglinton or make Eglinton a destination; they will just use it to get to University/Yonge lines faster. That said, it should result in many new condos and residents, who will need nearby stores and amenities.

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

The future is looking bright! After this ramp is replaced, the Jarvis off-ramp can be next, combined with reconfiguring many roads in the area east of Yonge and South of the Gardiner.

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Yes, hundreds of thousands people are missing this exit daily. With the exit temporarily closed, and Harbour Street/Lake Shore eastbound reduced to one lane, delays are permeating throughout the entire downtown area. Once it is reopened with a widened 4-lane Harbour Street it will be back to...

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

It's more the safety concerns associated with mainline backups than travel time delays. With only 200 m storage at an 8% downgrade this will be a critical test of safety and de-icing. I'd be curious what other speed mitigation is being looked at to prevent cars from flying off the highway at...

Oh honey...demolition is the easy part. The new construction will be tediously slow. If anything they are behind schedule, it's been over a month already. Planning our visits to the large parking garage that has now been opened up!

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Looking at NYC, their bridges have dramatically more land use impacts than their tunnels, and keep in mind their tunnels have to go deep under a river.

Tunneling would avoid the whole "destroying neighbourhoods" thing.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Yonge subway ridership is forecasted to be dramatically higher than the DRL due to the anticipated development in the corridor. From http://www.metrolinx.com/en/regionalplanning/projectevaluation/benefitscases/Benefits_Case-Yonge_North_Subway_Extension_2013.pdf

Are there any studies or documents out there that do some analysis regarding how many users GO Transit would gain on each route with RER?

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Wow another snarky anti-Highway widening post, what a surprise. The province is adding many lane-kms of highway each year to keep up with the GTA's booming growth. Everyone complains about the "404-401" interchange, meanwhile the city refuses to do any improvements in this area.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The problem is not the 404/401 interchange, but the # of lanes on DVP southbound. You could: Widen DVP to 5 lanes SB to Lawrence Widen DVP to 4 lanes SB to Eglinton Close York Mills Interchange or restrict access to reduce weaving Include some form of HOV lane

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

It's just hard to take those kind of anecdotes seriously. Compare the Gardiner crossings of Bathurst, Strachan, Dufferin which are all very walkable and pleasant, with Spadina, Simcoe, Jarvis. What do those have in common? It's Lake Shore that makes crossing a nightmare. When people say...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

No one disagrees with you that removing it will worsen traffic. They just think the cost benefits and redevelopment potential outweigh the negatives. Toronto council obviously thinks differently as they voted to keep/hybrid-ize it.

On-Street Parking Rate set to rise

You can't make the rates too high, or people will just stop making trips = less economic growth. For many it's not feasible to take transit.

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

The difference is, this affects a lot more than 1,537 cars in one hour. The daily volume is over 20,000 for this ramp alone, not including all other vehicle traffic that this impacts directly by congesting other roads. It affects all EB & WB Gardiner traffic by increasing travel time on the...

Looks like it would be extremely expensive...for not much benefit.

The only really big improvement in the Niagara region scheduled is the twinning of the Garden City Skyway. The existing deck only has about 10 years of service life yet, so the twinning will probably start within the next 5 years. This will add a truck climbing lane in each direction, which...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Man, some people on this site are gonna be so pissed when they find out the 401 in the east end will be widened to 12 lanes (express/collector) to the east end of Oshawa.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

It's already being improved: http://www.metrolinx.com/en/regionalplanning/rer/rer_kitchener.aspx Keep in mind GO Kitchener + Milton ridership is about 50,000 compared with about 200,000 vehicles for this section of 401. When MTO does projects of this scope, they also rehabilitate the existing...
