Design and Safety of City of Toronto Highways

Agreed but this area is under construction. The right lane drop is now at Finch and will be even farther north once the extension is open in 2020.

Yes, pretty sad that the safety of 100,000+ people daily is sacrified for a pedestrian bridge which I'm sure gets maybe 100 people/day, given it's proximity to Jameson and the other pedestrian bridge farther west.

    Marino's Dealerships (630 Kipling, 4s, Eightspace)

The old dealerships on Lake Shore (Honda, Subaru, Hyundai) will become condos/townhomes. Does anyone know what is happening to the current Land Rover & Jaguar dealers on Dundas? They are moving to the new Kipling/Queensway location but what is happening to the Dundas land?

    Toronto Kipling Station Transit Hub | ?m | 2s | Metrolinx | SAI

I'm a little confused. http://www.infrastructureontario.ca/Financial-Close-RER-Kipling-Bus-Terminal/ The RFP was just awarded, but construction is starting so soon? Major construction and road closures next week. WSP Canada is likely the civil designer. Is there a preliminary design...

Design and Safety of City of Toronto Highways

Yes, the Gardiner and DVP have some embarrassing signage. The spring cleaning is coming up and this would be an excellent time to install some signage and pavement markings, etc. All the on-ramps should have pavement markings indicating you aren't supposed to move onto the ramp line like...

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Have a look at the plans here: http://www.401expansion-mississauga.ca/upcoming_events.html This is what will be in place when the current project ends (east of Credit River), but before the next one starts (west of Credit River to past Milton).

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The EA was already done and was 100% valid. The review was the farce and is just pre election politics.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Yes, and I could see an extension of 427 to 400 & 410 acting as a "stub" GTA west to relieve some congestion and provide route flexibility. The final piece from 410 to 401/407 could come after more environmental assessment.

Well it was primarily to be a trucking route bypass of the 401/400 interchange (the most congested part of the GTA). Instead the recommendation is to add a toll free truck lane to 407ETR. Hmm, and who will cough up the money for the lost revenue to 407ETR?

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

407ETR tolls will always outpace inflation because they have to account for: Staff salaries (cost of living adjustments for inflation) Constant widening means more area to maintain Constant population and employment growth along the highway and outskirts of GTA Constant toll increases to combat...

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Not uncommon for these dense urban projects with lots of utility work (known and unknown) as part of the work. They probably ran into lots of surprises one they finally started excavating.

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Amazing how many attractions are served from this exit. Maybe a reason why King St business has been down?

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Why is everyone assuming that the business owners aren't looking at year/year data when making these claims? It was only very cold for like 10 days. Wasn't their business down all fall?

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

Are those the first traffic numbers we've gotten for the new highway? 40,000 is pretty low, about on par with the average of Hwy 406 in St. Catharines. Durham is so ready for development and intensification, too bad no one wants to live there. It's not like this is a secret, the rates are...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

This is a joke right? It's ridiculously easy to get around downtown compared to anywhere else. Sure, it's busy at 5pm, but so is the metro of every other major city in the world.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Well duh, that's why you'd have to "widen" it. If it was cheap and easy it would have been done 30 years ago. Plenty of parking lots between 401 and Eglinton.

No river from Eglinton to 401, which is the most congested section.

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

The project completion was always Jan 2018. Cold weather paving was always part of it. It's a low speed, low volume road; the paving requirements aren't as stringent as a 400 series highway for smoothness, durability etc.

Tolling the DVP should be used to widen the DVP (401 to Eglinton). Then they would get even more toll revenue!

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The road through Scarborough makes sense to relieve the DVP (like a relief line, get it?), the rest are just fantasy. But we know how much opposition there is to actually giving Scarborough good transportation options.
