    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Not only is the existing 410 extension alignment to a much lower design speed, the layout does not really accommodate future widening beyond 2 lanes per direction. I wonder if the intention was to always treat this as a placeholder extension until 413 was built. And although this project...

    Toronto Arcadia District | 138.4m | 42s | Ellis Don Developments | BDP Quadrangle

A rather inconvenient location due to being south of the rail tracks. You're almost closer to Islington/Bloor than Kipling/Bloor for walking. Kipling you'd have to either take the long bridge over the railway or cut through the TTC station. It would make getting to the new proposed Etobicoke...

    QEW - Mississauga/Credit River Project

Think 1 HOV + 3 General lanes in each direction, plus standard width shoulders and speed change lanes as required. Eventually the HOV will extend from Burlington to Hwy 427.

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

HOV to Kitchener will be game-changing. A lot of transit between the two areas is on GO Busses.

    QEW - Mississauga/Credit River Project

Great photos. Probably the most significant bridge over water built in the GTA in a long time. Big temporary changes to the on-ramps; I see huge traffic backups on traffic maps.

Mississauga Dixie Rd/QEW New Interchange (MTO, 1s, AECOM)

This will be along the south service road and it's right up to the property line of the mall, so it is maximizing parking lot area. Could they have negotiated a few more metres of property for some nice space for some sodding on a decent slope? Who knows if this was considered several years ago...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I never understood why more drivers coming in from Mississauga/Milton on the 401 don't stay in the express lanes. From what I see, almost always the collectors jams up where 410 merges and the express is moving quickly until the usual slow down approaching 427.

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

Higher radius is not just capacity but safety also - drivers don't need to change their speed. It appears these will all be two lane ramps so adding a 3rd lane won't do much (Highway is only 2 lanes per direction anyways).

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Typically those future dates like 2041 are really just a placeholder for "whenever it's needed", based on cost-benefit analyses. It's definitely not worth it to build 8 lanes now if you can defer that extra cost down the line. The road and bridges, etc. are designed to easily accommodate the...

Mississauga Dixie Rd/QEW New Interchange (MTO, 1s, AECOM)

Here's project website. https://www.qewdixiedetaildesign.ca/study-background-overview/ Eventually it will get taken down, so here is a snip from the preliminary design to get an idea of how it will look like when finished:

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Interestingly, the Eglinton Crosstown and Highway 413 are both in the same order of magnitude of cost - $5B (property acquisitions for each are another matter). Both are forecasted to have about 5,000 users per direction in the peak hour and 200,000 daily users. There is no answer as to...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

MTO itself agrees with you. That's why after the separate 401/Hurontario and 401/Mavis interchange projects, they put out a mega Infrastructure Ontario project which includes Mississauga Road, Winston Churchill, 407ETR, Trafalgar Road, James Snow Parkway, and Regional Road 25 in a single...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

If you've been paying attention, you'll see that far more is being spent on transit than roadways. GO expansion/electrification, Scarborough Subway, Yonge Extension, Eglinton, Finch, Ontario Line, Hamilton LRT, Hurontario LRT. So you can put the "stop building highways if you don't build...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Very few, if any, projects actually simply add an additional general lane to a highway. They either add HOV/managed lanes, are combined with bridge replacements, rehabilitations, or convert express/collector lanes, increase safety by extending merge/weaving distances, etc. So many articles...

Road bad. Why don't people just take the Milton - Vaughan subway??

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

Do they have the capability to eventually mail/deliver bags to the address on whatever tags the bag has? Or is the only option for the passenger to eventually return to the airport to claim it.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Pretty sure engineers/planners don't base decisions for traffic patterns at 3am when everything is flowing freely. Hell, 413 could actually save 'up to 2 hours' if there are big accidents on 401/400. The biggest advantage aside from time saving though is the increased redundancy, alternate...

    QEW - Mississauga/Credit River Project

Beautiful Drone work kok. Junctionist: environmentalists run the show now and piers in the water are to be avoided at all costs. Shame for those spoiled kayakers who will actually get to see the bridge from below.

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Of course from a Toronto perspective most would want 401 improved. But the government representatives from Brampton, Caledon, Vaughan all support the 413 (until they stopped supporting it, and then changed their minds again...or something).
