    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

They specifically asked Keesmaat what she would recommend and she reiterated Boulevard. They also asked the City Manager (Livey) and he said Hybrid or Boulevard. Here is the current tally...

How long is your regular daily commute?

I would suspect that there is a Toronto bias in play here. Most of the people here are probably from Toronto, with less from the 905. OTOH, a LOT of commuters are coming from the 905 into Toronto. Hence, the 80 minute number for daily commutes. For me, I'm in the Scarborough Bluffs and it's...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

Dunno if this was posted, but yesterday The Star posted an article about the bickering between Toronto's chief planner and John Tory's minions. http://www.thestar.com/news/city-hall-blog/2015/06/gardiner-road-rage-sidelines-toronto-s-chief-planner.html I don't remember all the details. Her...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Holy crap. The one dollar tear down sold for $1040000. Meanwhile a neighbouring teardown/rebuild is on hold, after the demolition. Apparently, the owner (dunno if individual or builder) cut down two large mature trees to open up the view, without a permit... and was fined $120000.

I wonder if he will eventually change his vote to hybrid, or if he will just waste his vote

Oops. My bad. Thanks for moving it.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

This is the specific wording: http://app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2013.CC39.5 City Council reconfirm its support for a Scarborough Subway, extending the Bloor-Danforth line along the McCowan Road corridor to Sheppard Avenue East (the "McCowan Corridor Subway"), subject...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

House for sale for $1 not too far from where I live. 65 Fishleigh - 1 buck Classic teardown, and probably going to generate a bidding war, given that it's on the cliff overlooking the lake. I haven't been following local prices closely of late, but my guess is it will go for over $900000. As a...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

This thread was started in early November 2009. The Teranet index was 118.27 after October 2009. Now it is 166.44 for April 2015, which represents an over 40% increase.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Don't forget the interest rate in the 1980s was up to 18%. Not much incentive to buy a home.

Haven on the Bluffs (VHL Developments) - Real Estate -

Isn't there a big hole there now? I couldn't see clearly from the road while driving by but that's what it looked like. BTW, the sign says it's 80% sold, but I don't know when it hit the 80% mark.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Indeed. I'm in Toronto East BTW. Still lots of reasonably priced detached homes here in decent areas. Well, decent compared to Toronto Central at least. Not so decent compared to most of the rest of Canada. Three quarters of a million for average. Geez. It's downright cheap in some areas, but...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

What they wanted to hear? I'm sure they'd be overjoyed to hear that it would not affect them. However, the study confirms what many expected, which is that tearing down the expressway will mean more severe gridlock. Surprise, surprise, removing a road increases traffic jams. Go figure.

Thx. Just a note though: It took me a while to find that passage because your link is to a section of the document after that passage. This is the more appropriate link: http://www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/budget/ontariobudgets/2015/ch1b.html#ch1b_2

Air quality map shows Toronto’s most polluted neighbourhoods

No. Initial assessments are that traffic delays in that area would increase. Gardiner Expressway removal would increase commute times If it is removed, commuters who use the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner to get downtown could spend an extra 20 minutes on the road each day, and as much as...

Air quality map shows Toronto’s most polluted neighbourhoods

Worse though was when I lived at Front and Bathurst. The pollution didn't bother me as much as the smell from the abattoir. However, the abattoir is now gone. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/the-end-of-hogtown-torontos-last-pig-plant-shuts-its-doors/article18932864/?page=all
