Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Just because it might work doesn't make it a great idea!

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

Given that surprise surprise the TTC doesn't think they can keep the SRT running, it really seems like we should consider using its corridor instead. . . The issue is not with the train width (OL vehicles will be nearly as wide) it has more to do with train performance. As someone mentioned...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

No, the projects serve regional traffic but they do it in very different ways. One of the best things about traditional rail is that you can have grade crossings, so you don't *need* to spend so much closing each and every crossing. I wouldn't argue Danforth or Finch, but streets like Passmore...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Just because the plans for 2 lines are bad doesn't mean they are for this. Its a totally legit reason why elevated is better. Having spent a lot of time in London are far preferred having a view to none at all. . . As others mentioned ICTS is not actually fundamentally bad . . . I would way...

    Link worked fine for me!

I think thats generally how expropriation works

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Finch West is good, but the benefit to cost ratio can't be that high

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

IIRC PC provincial governments were in charge when substantial amounts of the subway was getting built. Sorry to say but several streetcars or tramways on massively long routes (which Transit City was) would barely be justifiable with European land use. Also worth pointing out that what were...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

For better or for worse, land taking is very common for major transit projects, it happens a lot quicker in countries where they build for less money and hence are building a lot more. Theres a very reasonable argument to be made around the needs of the many vs. the needs of the few...

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

REM simply is not an LRT, it uses larger trains than a number of bonafide metro The dimensions of the trains misses one of the critical points which is the dwell time difference IIRC its Davisville Width is a log less important than number of doors

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It looks not bad honestly. Ah you'd be surprised, expensive finishings (which sometimes could be considered art) def can drive costs.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

These costs are still insane. Operations should not be THAT expensive.

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

I do not recall grade separations occurring on even the minor cross streets, I certainly don't see the value in spending 100ish million per separation to save a little idling time and not really improve transit service at all

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

It's practical in many places, look in many areas of Europe or even Calgary and Edmonton. If we are fully grade separating why not just do the REM?

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Can someone explain why Hurontario is getting an LRT (see tramway)? With such sparse density and long distances between locations wouldn't a Metro like the REM (maybe downsized) down the middle of the road (elevated) make way more sense?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Sure but again NA shouldn't be the benchmark
  17. superelevation

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Fixing this intersection is simple, force cars to turn right and then take a u turn once the LRT is underground

The ones from Tours are even closer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alstom_Citadis#/media/File:Tram_tours_5.jpg

Vic Park has a ton of employment and general density, further to Agincourt and its the same story (plus a load of redevelopment) and once you get to Agincourt might as well go to Scarborough Centre. Linear transfer is the term.
