Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

You may be right, but the Champs-Élysées will be rebuilt to accommodate less vehicles and a focus on pedestrians & cyclists. Many Parisians feel that the avenue is too basic and not friendly enough for people. So perhaps less vehicle space is a factor for the enjoyability of streets.

Jasonzed - Jason Zytynsky Tribute and Photography Award

Rest in peace to him, and my condolences to his family & friends. I'm sorry, and I'm grateful for his dedication to city-building. Rest in peace.

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

It's really easy to be cynical about this project, since it hasn't been as "grand" as it could've been. So I'm wondering... are they building this... https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/projects/1230/1230-54527.jpeg or not? Also, does anyone know about the Great Hall...

    Rail Deck Park (?, ?, ?)

You should read the Downtown Parks & Public Realm Plan, which includes Rail Deck Park, University Avenue, Yonge Street... among many other projects.

True. Trees on green roofs are a good idea, but putting them on balconies is hard to pull off.

Why did they remove the podium's yellow colour? Now it's just bland.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Factually incorrect. Translink (not the NDP) is planning Vancouver's future transit network. They are considering two options... Network A (more skytrain) and Network B (more LRT).

A rare example of a councillor actually caring about the public realm. It makes me wonder why this motion is even necessary. Wouldn't the project designs be coordinated by default?

    Toronto 31R Parliament Street | 165.8m | 49s | Cityscape | SHoP

This might actually be an old rendering. The presentation includes a pic of the first design of Block 10 Indigenous Hub, so this might not be the current design after all :)

Damn those railing are very utilitarian. Light posts aren't great, either.

I'll make sure to ask them about it.

    Alright, I guess I'm a little too worried 😂

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I know, it's pretty nice! The shape is modernist, but the colours are very nice... especially under the sunlight. The least they could do is aim for a Skytrain-like design. Or perhaps something even more ambitious (like Moscow or Saint Petersburg). Clearly, people are pretty divided on this...

Look, we just disagree in terms of aesthetics. I thought their plan was beautiful, you don't. I like Heatherwick, you don't. It's okay, we're entitled to our own opinions.

    Toronto Quayside | ?m | ?s | Dream

They were beautiful, especially those by Heatherwick. Do you know how much work and thought had gone into them? The level of detail in their master plan is unprecedented. And we should be able to build timber towers, as is done around the world. The problem is the building code, not their plans...

Are you saying we should settle for typical design, just because it's not a surveillance state? Am I the only one that was impressed by both the architecture + urbanism of the previous proposal? I'm just saying that the new renderings + block plan are a big downgrade IMO.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I think it depends. I agree that low-profile stations cost MUCH less money. For example, the Yonge-Spadina Extension into Vaughan has ridiculously large stations, and yet most of them aren't even that attractive at eye level (ex. the bare concrete walls surrounding the platforms). I agree that...

Sorry about that. I do like the copper, but I disagree with your viewpoint. While I respect your opinion, I believe that most people prefer expressive design - not modernist buildings. There was a rule in the standards that competely baffled me... "design approach based on high functionality...

Hasn't anyone questioned why Waterfront Toronto's concept renderings are so typical? At least Sidewalk's architecture was beautiful, this just looks cookie-cutter. Or is it just a placeholder design?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Regarding the Ontario Line, Metrolinx has already prepared sample renderings for the line - in the new "Subway Station Architecture Design Standard". It is a set of guidelines on how new subway stations will be built, and it has tons of renderings! Design Standard and additional renderings...
