    Oldest Sports Teams In Canada...?

I find it interesting that the use of FC in soccer team names in Canada dates back to 1896. While it still may be a pretention on the part of modern teams, they can at least argue it is a part of the sport's heritage in the country.

Golden Horseshoe's local transit systems comparisons

KW's system is actually pretty decent for the most part.

Politics: Tim Hudak's Plan for Ontario if he becomes Premier

Didn't Toronto elect someone based on promises of cutting gravy and finding efficiencies? How well did that work out?

The bedrock in Ottawa is actually Paleozoic limestone, not Precambrian shield rock. Your point is valid nonetheless.

Kitchener to Toronto train service & the tech sector

The freeway is really not necessary, to be completely honest. The major bottlenecks are along Victoria Street in Kitchener and Woodlawn in Guelph, primarily due to the number of lights. Between the two cities, it can be frustrating due to the long line of cars, but the traffic typically moves...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Why would you need four extraction sites downtown? One thing I really like about how they are constructing the Confederation Line in Ottawa is that they are excavating the stations from below. I'm not sure if such a thing would be possible in the case of the DRL, but it would certainly minimize...

Kitchener to Toronto train service & the tech sector

I definitely see the value in reverse-peak service to Kitchener. Waterloo Region is one area that is still steaming along, even with all the trouble at Blackberry. With the new LRT and King and Victoria transit centre, all of the major employment nodes in KW are going to be easily connected to...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

What do they use the mobile command centre for?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I know it is never going to happen, but the storage at Kitchener could be solved by having a train leaving Union early in the morning arriving in time to reverse direction and function as the last train into Union. This would address the calls for providing reverse-commuting service from Toronto...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Thunder Bay is a common stopping point for people on a cross-country trip, which means that a lot of travellers are heading there anyway. Also, for those travelling across the country and driving through the area, stopping to see Kakabeka Falls takes all of 5 minutes and they really are quite...

Toronto Union Subway Station: Second Platform and Concourse Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC | IBI Group

I wonder if it would eventually be possible to convert it into a spanish solution, though I'm not sure it would ever be necessary at Union.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The MTO does seem to be warming to intermediate forms like that, maybe not to the same degree, but still vastly superior to the old two-lane highway. I know that both Highway 6 and 10 now have regular passing lanes. They only started putting them in on Hwy 6 north of Guelph a few years ago and I...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

For those interested, Bombardier has a lot of videos up on their youtube channel about the C-Series, it's manufacture, preparing for the test flight and so on. It's quite interesting - https://www.youtube.com/user/bombardieraero/videos?view=0&shelf_index=0&sort=dd.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

There are all sorts of roads that go past the foot of runways a well. Provided there is a fence to keep people of the airfield, I don't see why it should be an issue.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Perhaps something the TPA should consider is closing the two smaller runways and turning that space over for parkland. I don't imagine the two smaller runways are used that often as it is, and it might generate more goodwill to residents and would also increase the ramp space west of the current...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I wonder how much more costly it is to excavate stations from below instead of digging down. This seems to be the approach that they are taking with the Confederation Line in Ottawa, and it seems that disruptions to the surface street network will be very minimal. The cost for the line don't...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

That is amazing. I wonder how much of a premium it is to replace a bridge like that versus normal methods.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I know they are currently studying relocating or rebuilding Hwy 11 between Orillia and Barrie to get rid of all the local access. I believe they are also planning on expanding it to 6 lanes in that stretch as well.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

I don't even see the point of differentiation based on at-grade and grade-separated. The point of a map is to communicate to people how to get from point A to point B. That is it. Mixing in other details just gets in the way of its primary objective.
