Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Elevated rail is usually not accepted until you show people it can be done well, as most major cities realize . . . .

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Vancouver's rail system is frankly better than the TTC Subway. Higher frequencies, and still plenty of capacity. It doesn't because it is not so simple as measuring the floor space of the train, the TTC refuses to put longitudinal seating in its trains which alone shrinks the gap to 20%. Of...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Eglinton is about comparable to the Canada line WRT how much capacity can expand as a % of what it will be at day 1 (compared to Canada Line today), but Eglinton is serving a way busier market and hence its a much bigger concern. Toronto is not getting another proper crosstown line anytime soon...

Its funny how there was little talk about First Parliament until the land (car dealerships in large part) was needed for a transit project by a Conservative Government. I am sure if they weren't talking about all the TOD etc. the story would be that "Government wastes prime transit accessible...

The improved perf of electric trains (and reliability) does help operate higher frequencies

    TTC: Streetcar Network

I think you're making some pretty big accusations based on someone doing a video, I remember him complaining a lot about various Metrolinx lines being tunnelled and also about Presto

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Reading all this, I think Metrolinx must be aware of the optics of taking these places of worship they do have decent comms people (AMA replies to people on Twitter all the time). It seems from the map provided by H4F33Z that the new location won't be expropriated but will be south of the yard?

Look at the Hydro Lines and Valley, remember Kipling Station? Your map shows the new bright green building not conflicting with the yard? So they take the old building but not the new one?

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Pretty sure the video suggested that having multiple models was ok, not that it was *desirable*, the ideas for some of the routes are wacky, though part of the benefit is having redundant tracks in a few places.

Toronto Regional Board of Trade Regional Rail Report

In Median isn't effective at improving travel time compared to a prioritized bus ala Viva, which we could implement for the TTC for far less than an LRT. So if it isn't happening you can't support it? I guess nobody could support Milton Line RER since it's currently "not" happening. 1) Plenty...

    1) This is not a CBD with office towers and narrowish streets 2) There is *a rail corridor* Someone tell Hong Kong THEY are doing transit wrong!

Looks like they will be dot matrix not lcd :/ These projects started years ago, hence they don't have the latest signage?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

This is going to be a long one, bear with me . . . We will have four tracks and what like 30 tph? We do not have a capacity issue, 2 tracks with modern signalling can easily do 30 tph. One of the biggest problems you have with this plan is it leaves a large chunk of land in the core of one...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

From what I've seen in there communications, there are many in this group who call into question the need for transit expansion. I don't take the supposed support for much, they support it as long as tons of extra money is spent on this section.

Toronto Regional Board of Trade Regional Rail Report

You do not need battery trains to electrify areas in conflict with freight, as people have said inumerable times freight can run under wire, and in this case it would be a very short segment. If Milton is to get frequent service flyovers would probably be needed anyways. The authors of the...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The bigger issue is that it's unclear what the GTAA is actually planning transit wise for the airport. Union Station West is dead afaik. Noooo, more transfers should be avoided, one of the best things about the UP is the direct connection to T1, a people mover doesn't have this benefit.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

You don't actually need to change the columns, you need to do some cantilevers, which already exist at Union iirc. It will still be a lot of work though.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Just because thats what it's branded as doesn't mean thats what it should be called. Branding is for the general public, not folks on UrbanToronto. The Canada Line like the REM should be capable of 90 second frequencies. Again, I am not sure why we can't make our own judgement call instead of...

Calling it light rail is really bad, given light rail in the Canadian context is something completely different. It's lead to light rail being a super diluted term.
