    Simons

Where did you read that? Word over here is that for Vancouver's Pacific Centre, Simons would take levels 2 and 3 and Zara and Nike would take Level 1. Cineplex is already building a RecRoom a block south on Granville St.

Nice that they preserved a sidewalk within the bracing structure.

The zigzags of the slabs look surprisingy uniform, but I think the staggered glass block vs vision glass walls will add the variety / variation to the facade.

Does it seem like the labels for "Lower concourse level" and "Ontario Line service level" should be swapped? The level at 17.5m seems more like a partial service level.

I think it's there to signal that they are more than a convenience store.

Looks like they are using a lot of shear walls (stabilizing concrete walls). Maybe that deals with lateral forces and eliminates/reduces the need for megacolumns.

Looks like a conscious decision by someone (architect?) to continue the vertical gap at the expense of the horizontal bar extending fully. It looks like the remaining bit may be too small for a filler piece while retaining the gap? If you saw this - people would say the bar interrupts the...

The bricks with the lighter mortar look pretty regularly spaced - Could they be attachment points for a sculpture in future?

I often see people with a child have the child on the step in front of them, although that really only works when going up since the child would be at an elevation where you could lift them to help them exit. As you mention, there are always exceptions - your child example being one, likewise...

I would say it's a courtesy on the part of the people giving way, rather than an entitlement for the beneficiary. i.e. you often see clusters of people walking 4 abreast down a city sidewalk. It's not unreasonable for them to reconfigure when passing others into 2x2s so people in the opposing...

Yeah, I pause the texting for certain things - stairs, crosswalks and puddles. *** PS - Transit agencies like people to walk slowly, because it spaces people out so the platforms are not overcrowded. That's one of the reasons why modern subway transfer stations have long corridors instead of...

Maybe the solution is for people on both sides to walk? The stairs do, however, provide a good option - both up and down - they would be faster than just standing still on an escalator.... although I doubt you can eliminate the tripping hazard on stairs due to the need to move your feet.
