Regarding the new 96 service to the Zoo, I just noticed it costs less for seniors to go from NYCC to STC via GO than the TTC. I am sure the same will be true for Zoo trips.
My take on this, at York Mills and Don Mills it's green space on at least two quadrants - very limited development potential; while at the Richmond Hill corridor, at least the industrial strip along Leslie is also within reasonable distance. The location is just more centralized.
Agree. I'd think most people who oppose to renaming do so not because they want to honour Henry Dundas. To them it's more akin to the SkyDome rename debacle.
"Dundas West" in Toronto is The Junction, Little Portugal, Chinatown, Eaton Centre.
What I get from guide, the illegible LRV icon is for streetcars. Line 5 is using the front facing icon (and eventually switched over to the LRT/subway icon) that we should already recognize.
That however will re-open the topic of whether Line 6 is considered rapid transit. It seems misleading...
The Exhibition station building looks way bigger than just a bridge. If they are smart, they'd make that the concourse with shops, sort of like what they do at some Asian stations; maybe add a roof top park while at it.
Staying on Don Mills - possibility of serving the Peanut if line goes up to Finch.
Using the rail ROW - serves the Lesmill employment area
I'd prefer the second option, because the Peanut will still be served by frequent 25 Don Mills regardless.
There's an existing rail corridor at Riverdale/Leslieville along the OL routing. Doesn't have one for the Yonge extension - except for the final section at Richmond Hill, which requires a new route to connect with Yonge.
Please suggest an alternative that doesn't involve expropriation.
If in your opinion NYCC has uninteresting street level spaces, then you'll most likely be disappointed. This seems to be a cross of Downtown Markham and NYCC.
Doesn't make sense to remove the existing parking. Nothing can be built there anyways. Might as well keep it as overflow parking.
Even better if they can get a pedestrian bridge over Esther Shiner Blvd and connect to the new parking.
If they are using TBMs, won't they need a launch/extract site north of Finch anyways? One would think there'd be an opportunity to build the section from Finch to Cummer as cut-and-cover, and launch the TBMs from there.
