    400 foot List

By doing a quick count of the buildings 400 ft. or more presently built, and others to be completed along with proposed, the skyline will more than double in size and density in the next 5 years. Some of the proposed projects are more than 5 years away from completion, but even if they are under...

    Another Grass-is-Greener Everywhere Else tête-à-tête-à-tête-à-tête

You're right. hating Toronto is a pastime. A good portion of the people who hate Toronto have never been there. If you asked them the reason why, i'm not sure if they would have a legitimate reason. Because, ah, it's Toronto, and ah, i was told it was a bad place, and ah, they have lots of cars...

    Toronto 88 Scott Street | 203.9m | 58s | Concert | P + S / IBI

Fantastic looking building compared to a lot of other boring glass boxes. An appealing retro kinda look.

Hope so. There has been talk about height restrictions in that area, but I agree, they wouldn't pay those big bucks without a good return on their investment. The height restriction that has been talked about would put the brakes on a lot of major construction. We'll find out soon enough.

Has this proposal been given the green light? If I remember correctly there was supposed to be tiered construction from the lake to the existing core. Maybe this was only a proposal, so I don't know how firm that is, but it may get in the way of all the newer tall ones coming up for approval...

650 Bay St Boutique Hotel Redevelopment (Lanterra, ?s, ?)

Like i mentioned earlier, it looks ok from a distance, but when you look at some of the photos with closer perspective, as when you would be walking past the building, it looks quite bad. Likely about as good as it can when you hand paint bricks, but it looks amateurish and cheap. Fire away.

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I expect a lot of it comes down to dollars. If you can sell out a 70 story boring glass box for x return on your money, there is no reason to spend money on more expensive materials, and fancier, more aesthetically pleasing taller buildings. There is no competition between companies and...

    Toronto CHAZ | 150.87m | 47s | 45 Charles Ltd | P + S / IBI

The 1960 version should be torn down because it is an ugly piece of 60's trash. A parking lot would look better. Maybe a billboard with a picture of the original Arcade.

650 Bay St Boutique Hotel Redevelopment (Lanterra, ?s, ?)

I'm still surprised they could continue to paint in this cool weather. It must be some special industrial paint. My wife ever finds out, well she can be outside at Christmas painting, not me. Looks better than i ever thought it would. It looks better from a distance, ie the photos.

It's good to see some below grade progress. For a while there it looked like they were playing with the big boy toys. It appears they have a way to go on the downward, considering the scale of the building. Would it be the better part of the winter before we see some concrete being poured? The...

    Toronto Theatre Park | 156.96m | 47s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

The noise from construction may cause some grief for patrons of the Royal Alex, especially during a Matinee. There must be some sort of deal during certain times of the day to curtail noise, or a least keep it to a minimum.

    Toronto L-Tower | 204.82m | 58s | Cityzen | Daniel Libeskind

That's about right at the current rate of a floor every 2 weeks. Maybe spring 2013.

    Toronto 88 Scott Street | 203.9m | 58s | Concert | P + S / IBI

I like the Art Deco feel to it. Not sure of the tall box on top, but outside of that, a nice change from the banal.

It does appear to break that monotonous wall of green glass. That alone is a welcome feature. The round structure doesn't show up on a 2D drawing at all.

This should put a more positive spin on this project. A picture is worth a thousand posts. I'm excited to see them, and put an end to my scepticism.

Caltrane, great idea. Maybe it will show us sceptics something different than the last photo. Time to chill a bit, grab a pint, and watch some football.

I don't think anyone is going to pop a vein because of it. There are more important things, like what's for dinner. For me it's just an observation and post. I have no plans to occupy 90 Harbour st. and demand a better building. I can't speak for others though.
