Toronto Pan Am Village in the West Don Lands | ?m | ?s | DundeeKilmer | KPMB

I worked on one of the competing PanAm village bids and I recall it is a security requirement and was planned all along. They want control of the village area well in advance of the games. As you can see in the photos, they are already setting up the tents for the games. So save your ink...

The timing worked out very well, they yanked the logos off of this one and slapped them on top of the E&Y tower.

I'm not surprised. I thought that the western crane on the podium level was in the wrong position to support the construction of the west condo. It will be interesting to see if they install a new crane for the west condo right away or they plan on building the east condo first. My unit is in...

Thanks for posting that, amazing 5 cranes in that shot in a one block area.

Looks like a new crane is up on the condo side of the site. I'm guessing it's the crane for the East condo tower. Hopefully that means the pause on building the condos is finished and it's back to work.

Well that's a real asshole comment. Hawc posted photos of his place and people decide to insult him. Normally I find if someone decides to let us have a peek inside their personal life and show us their style its polite to say you like it or keep quiet, but of course this is the internet where...

I'd have to say overall the new developments in South Core have a pretty good pedestrian experience. MLS, ACC, Telus, PWC, the new Delta and Bremner Tower all have nice wide sidewalks, the newer towers have restaurant spaces that face onto the street, the new Bremner Tower and Delta have...

Your sarcastic comment is a bit ironic given that you took the photo from the new PATH bridge that has made that area substantially more pedestrian friendly.

As a middle aged man in a suit I reject that proposal.

Yep, grand opening today. I walked by with the kids on Tuesday night hoping they'd be doing a soft opening, but there was just training going on. Although the PATH connection running in the new office tower next to the Delta was open so we walked through there. It's pretty nice, and the...

I think most sold during VIP sales only. They did eventually open up broadly but sold so well I don't get the impression they did much broad marketing. I understand all they have left are a few lower floor north facing units. The condos are underway, unit purchasers received notice that...

Based on construction photos I've seen for most highrise foundations in Toronto the most favoured foundation type is reinforced concrete footings. Looking at the digs you see a lot of shale which to my understanding is strong enough to not need piles.

I heard four stories on each tower, but it was from a saleperson, which typically gives it about a 98% chance of being incorrect.

I've been keeping track of this project, since I bought a unit in the west tower, and I think they've stopped the condo work. They seem to be putting all the resources into getting the office tower finished, or at least the concrete work done before they continue on the condos. I heard from a...

Wednesday for my girlfriend. They're starting to fill up the floors on the higher elevator bank now, 31 to the roof.

That photo is the park across the street that currently has the off ramp. The podium is only broken by the entrance/exit for the parking.
