Victorian Toronto in 3D: Stereoscope Photographs from the 19th Century

Oops! Just realized why it looked so unfamiliar. It was replaced in 1891 with the dour version. Pity.

Victorian Toronto in 3D: Stereoscope Photographs from the 19th Century

What a splendid thread!. I don't recall ever seeing an image of Cooke's (Presbyterian?) Church with its steeples intact. I do recall a rather dour and dirty facade but that is on the fringe of my earliest memories of Toronto after first moving here. I can't help but wish that my mother had...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I recall during the final election in which Chrétien was running in 2000, on election day or the day before, the National Post proclaimed in its bold front page headline "Massive Collapse of Liberal Support". This was clearly a fabrication with no reference whatsoever to what was actually...

You're just ditching one arbritary convention and adapting another equally arbitrary convention. Keep up the good work and you'll find that elusive lowest common denominator in no time. Perhaps we can also get rid of those pesky white lines which are cluttering up our highways.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I'm thinking that perhaps it doesn't seem high enough for the observation deck. Looks to be about the 25th floor judging by the roof of the nearby Sterling Tower.

Thanks for posting charioteer. By my reckoning, Chez Paree is the sixth building west of the Park Plaza. Does that make sense?

    Gay History in Toronto

Just east of Swiss Chalet was Frederick's which sold women's lingerie but I can't recall ever seeing any customers in the store. In the window were a couple of miniature display poodles doing something cheeky with some silk undies. There was also a Honey Dew in a vaguely Moderne limstone clad...

    Gay History in Toronto

I can recall just about everything else that was on this block except what buildings and businesses were located at this site before the Intercontinental. Maybe it was a parking lot!

Thanks deepend. This is really fascinating stuff. Where was Chez Paree located?

    Toronto 561 Sherbourne | 128.01m | 43s | Medallion | Arcadis

There is an excellent No Frills on Front@Princess, behind the Toronto Sun building. It is huge, clean, well stocked, well lit, very wide aisles and customers seem to understand the theory of queuing up.

    Brilliant! Doug could play Krista.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Hopefully there will be a TV movie of the week soon recounting the whole sorry story. Please let it be produced by Global and please let Kathy Bates star as Mare Ford. Who should play Doug the Thug?

I have a bottle of Schadenfreude '13 on ice. Perhaps we can crack it open to help RF celebrate.
