North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

I’m amazed at how many Shoppers Drug Mary’s there are. There is one at each of the stations. Pretty saturated for pharmacy and cosmetics.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

I accept that building public infrastructure is expensive. What I don’t accept is being fleeced by contractors and government lies when they put in huge contingencies and burn them through incompetence in delivery or through overbuilding (e.g. TYSSE, Viva, Mississauga BRT) infrastructure. It’s...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

See that should be called out. I’d be fine with that inclusion but the public should know what’s included in those costs.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Even with all that you said I still don’t see $1B. Keep in mind that East Harbour would have been built without SmarTrack.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

You are spot on. I don’t get why these 6 stations cost on average $150M each. They are above ground and require no tunneling or complex engineering. They really don’t need any bus terminals or parking garages. So why does a simple platform over two tracks with some shelter and basic amenities...

    Toronto Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Enhancement | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

I don’t believe ATC will reduce headways or increase capacity much. It has the potential to sure but the TTC hasn’t procured new trains on line 1 or 2 that would be required to support additional capacity and reduced headway to 90 seconds as mentioned. The other limit is station capacity...

    Toronto Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Enhancement | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

I wonder if this 'improvement' is worth it in the long run or will it just ease the pain for a few years before the pent-up demand just fills the space. Is it worth spending $1B-$2B on just adding a new eastbound platform on Line 2? Or would that money be better spent on improving the...

    Roads: Roundabouts

We need more of them in the GTA and Ontario. Rural areas where we have country roads and traffic lights are just non-sensical when a simple round-about would have done the job. In the city, I'd get rid of all 4-way stop signs and replace them with roundabouts in the residential areas. That plus...

    Toronto Royal Ontario Museum | ?m | ?s | Daniel Libeskind

The seating area looks like concrete. Would have looked a lot nicer if they kept the granite seating - would look more rich and modern than the dull grey concrete. A few nice high-end benches for seating would have been a good addition. This improvement is underwhelming.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Petitions are meaningless these days. The only thing that works is broad and loud protests and large campaigns to scare politicians of their reelection chances. Right now Ford is sitting pretty as he had 3 years to fix his honeymoon mistakes.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

That may work in theory but the best best of these options is to extend Line 4 west. The main reason would he to cut back the travel time of trains from Line 1 to get to Wilson yard. This is a low priority as the Yonge extension if/when built includes some track north of the terminal to store...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Agreed but I doubt he will he gone next election. The NDP won’t win and the Liberals are in shambles. He may win again next time around as our memories are short and many many people love the PC party and will vote for them. If a recession hits under his watch, then watch out as no party is safe.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Agreed but the western extension is not happening anytime soon if ever. Neither is the eastern extension of the Finch West LRT. Let’s just hope they build it and it gets completed in the next few years. I don’t see any extensions until likely 2030s or 40s

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Makes me think that’s no progress will he made on any of these projects. They don’t want to explicitly cancel them and get the wrath of the ‘People’ nor do they want to spend the money on public transit. This is the best approach their advisers have given them. Stall stall stall. Then pitch it...

    Vaughan 7028 Yonge | 218.75m | 65s | Gupta | Arcadis

This is on the NW corner Vaughan side. It won’t displace those ugly buildings on the east side of Yonge. Maybe when the subway starts construction developers will be interested in buying up those lands and intensifying.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Three entrances to Cedarvale are good for pedestrians. The current entrance is between the on and off ramps to Allen road. It’s really only good for the bus terminal. The new south side entrance will be handy for passengers coming from south side of Eglinton to avoid having to cross the street...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Not in the slightest. Let’s wait and see what happens after the Federal election. The new minister of Transport is a lame duck who was demoted from AG and has lost all respect.

    VIA Rail

I agree. My point was that we should be aiming to have VIA take more passengers from airlines. If we want to reduce our carbon footprint, then reducing the need to fly short distances will be a good thing. HFR is a big improvement if it ever gets built but Canadians should push for more and...

Toronto Yonge Sheppard Centre Renovations and Expansion | 123.13m | 35s | RioCan | BDP Quadrangle

This renovation has come through nicely. It's a huge improvement over what's there now. What's missing now is updating the public realm on Yonge Street. It's deteriorated greatly over the last decade as the treed median has mostly been lost due to tree deaths. Hoping the city sees the light and...
