    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

On the 3rd lane on the 401, it's definitely needed but there are no plans for that anytime soon. I'd prefer if Ontario simply increased the speed limits on the 401 outside the city to 120km/h and restricted trucks from passing each other on 2 lane roads unless it's an emergency. Also Ontario...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

I have my doubts on all the GO RER expansion promises. It's been 7 years since this has been promised and very little has materialized except for some small service improvements. Yes Lakeshore service frequency is better and some 2 way service exists on the Barrie and Stouffville line but that's...

    Toronto 16 York | 154.83m | 32s | Cadillac Fairview | a—A

It's definitely a consolidation of offices for IBM. The media makes it seem like the first downtown office whereas IBM has multiple offices downtown on Bloor, Spadina, King, and Wellington that are being consolidated into this new one. While it's only a few floors, keep in mind that IBM is...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Forest Hill Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

What a massive building for a secondary entrance. Why couldn't this be a simple door-way within an existing 2 storey building instead of this massive bulky building. This would have been a mid-rise housing building instead of a stand-alone station entrance. Wasted opportunity on high priced...

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

I don't see funding come for this any time soon. It's frankly not needed. The Newmarket portion was a colossal waste of money as the investment is nowhere near warranted for the low density and lack of intensification along that corridor. The big question is what did the massive investment and...

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

Probably true but I though I read somewhere it was to align with the subway train colours - ie our T1/Rockets tin can look. The Flexities would look way nicer in a nice colour or with the green colour Metrolinx was advertising on all their banners and web pages.

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

I can't believe they picked the grey livery. It would have been so nice to have them red like the rest of the streetcars/buses. The grey is drab but will blend nicely with the greyness that is Toronto public spaces.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Pave it and they will come. Makes no sense to build this when there are much better use of funds, like say giving. trucks. easier and cheaper access to 407, which is sitting empty.

    Toronto Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Enhancement | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

For the amount of money this will cost, the city and province should abandon this project. It's crazy to drop this much money for a new platform for 1 of the 4 directions at this station. $1.5B you can build a lot more. For example, why not build a dedicated LRT on Bay St from Bay Station down...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Where does it say that Line 5 will run to Pearson? Right now it's only going to Humber College. Maybe someday it will get extended but that's unfunded and likely not happening after this round of expansion is done - likely for another 25-30 years.

Toronto Rental Cost (& AirBnB) Issues

So what happens to all the landlords who bought units only for Airbnb style short term rentals and it is not their principle residence? Is that going to be banned now? Or they just need to register?

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Correct. I misspoke. I meant to say coverage. Free wifi shouldnt be a priority. It’s not essential to transportation and the vast majority of people have a data plan. Unless the big 3 telcos fund it (doubtful), I’d rather the city invest in more service and not frills like wifi.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

There is already WiFi in the tunnels. You just have to be in Freedom to use it as the other networks did not sign up to BAI's infrastructure. It's there but few know it exists are most are not on Freedom's plans.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Cost of subway Wifi was pretty cheap and much easier to do as the stations are stationary. Wifi on moving vehicles outside is expensive. Again for me, it's a case of priorities. If they can get 100% funding, then maybe it's ok, but I doubt anyone. would front that kind of money. TTC has much...

He will ride it for the photo-op, especially if it's during an election campaign.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Colossal waste of money. This should not be a priority at all. Improve service and clean the buses more. Most people have data plans or can survive without the internet for their commute.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I've come to realize that given all the politics and division, this extension is the best we could do to clean up the problem of the extra transfer issue at Kennedy. This was the problem with all the LRT proposals for Scarborough - at their core in that they did not resolve the forced random...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I would think they'd want this line opened before the June 2022 provincial election. So I'm thinking there will be a big push from Metrolinx to get it opened around the spring of 2022. There needs to be some ribbon-cutting before the next election.

What's wrong with streetcar level service? Even downtown main streets don’t have dedicated ROW. This is a huge improvement over bus service.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

What a collossal waste of money. This could have been done much more cost-effective if it was above ground or heck even elevated.
