Interesting. Bunch of the units for this place currently listed on Realtor.ca. Not sure if that is always common at this stage or not, but I happened across them randomly when looking at condos in my area today.

I think it may be premature to call it a piece of crap ... as has been the case with several buildings that got panned early but turned out better than expected. I've walked past it often, and although there are materials I'm not sold on, the overall feel is not as imposing as people were...

I disagree completely based on what I have experienced living in the area. People use the wide sidewalks. Kids play on them. They are quite busy ( in relative terms for an area that is still being built ). And they feel very lively.

Does anyone know O'Toole's position on transit expansion in Toronto? I'm a legit non-partisan who hasn't made a decision on the upcoming election - but I'm definitely curious if anyone has seen him comment on or address all the money coming to Toronto for transit. Ty if you know.

Not sure if this has been asked, but what is the rationale behind the uber fast completion work on the base, when they are so early in the construction process? I was blown away to see glass up already. It's great to see, but I was really surprised and it feels like parts of the base could open...

Aye. I'm a bit surprised. Will need to see it in person, but really don't like what I see in those pics ... at least for now.

Ah that's too bad if it's the case. The new area showing off those exposed beams is so nice. Modern yet with a classical feel to it. Great colors. And the Gardiner feels like it 'fits' with its surroundings to a much larger degree.

I totally agree. Thought this was going to be an ugly project for some reason, but it's turning out very nicely. I don't think the renders did it justice.

So will the entire Gardiner end up looking the same as what they've done so far on the East section? Will the entire Gardiner show the beams underneath like it does now in the East? I've always hated the Gardiner, but I have to admit that whoever has designed this project has gained a fan in...

I think the two towers compliment each other nicely.

I'd get rid of that giant stage/concert contraption for starters. I understand the spirit of it, but it shrinks the feel of the square and makes everything feel terribly cluttered. Add some trees. Close the street to the south and use that space for cafes.

I'm sure you meant well in your post, but it makes some pretty large assumptions that I don't think most people would agree with. Speaking for myself, I am not in the real estate business. I just don't want to see some great buildings torn down for no reason, when they could be integrated...

Same. And I'm going to reserve judgement until more is complete, but it really doesn't look bad.

Am I the only one that gets nervous at this point of a commercial build? I know this tower isn't one to worry about, but I have leftover ptsd from living with the old Bay-Adelaide stump for so many years.

Seems like an odd comment. Is this normally a problem for Great Gulf buildings?

I could totally see residential conversion taking place for a portion. King Eddy did that.
