    Loblaws

I also wonder if this business move has had something to do with several Goodlife Fitness branded gyms departing locations attached/within Loblaw banner stores over the last few years.

Roads: Highway 7 North Kitchener-Guelph New Freeway Build

The current alignment of Shirley is no better...Caroline Street, becomes Bridgeport Road/Erb Street, which becomes Riverbend Drive which then goes into the alignment above, Shirley-Lackler-Fairway-Idle Creek.

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

I recently went to school in London for a few weekend courses. In my time in the city, it really felt like someone pressed "pause" in around 1991 and with the exception of several SmartCentres/power centres and look-alike single detached housing, nothing substantial has happened since. All new...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

When was the existing Highway 9 Bridge widened? IIRC, it was only about 15 years ago. That seems like a bit of a waste to demolish a bridge that had significant improvements only 15 years ago. That wasn't very forward thinking when the last rebuilt this interchange.

Was there really a full inquest? I'm pretty up to speed on my Ontario highway history, but this is the first I've heard of that. I'd be interested in more information if you happen to have it. There are arguably several 400 series highways that could be labelled as "local municipal highways" -...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Those accidents you speak of were cross-over accidents through the grass median before the tall wall median barrier was constructed. Through KW now, about 66% of the Conestoga Parkway and Highway 8 has a tall wall barrier (this includes the portion currently under construction between Courtland...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

The same issue has actually recently happened in Waterloo Region with the new aBRT on Hespeler Road in Cambridge. The Region responded by adding additional signage to the signals indicating that the vertical white bar above the signal indicates transit priority...

The Hanlon (Highway 6) actually has real potential to be further extended south of the 401 as part of the long awaited Morriston Highway 6 bypass. South of the 401, potential route alignments show the extension connecting to the current 6 south to Hamilton.

    Random Ontario retail nostalgia

Ahh yes, Knob Hill Farms. I was at the Beer Store a couple weeks ago, and someone was returning empties in one of those iconic plastic black Knob Hill Farms baskets they used to give out.

    Random Ontario retail nostalgia

Anyone remember White Rose Garden Centres? Every year at Christmas we would go and get decorations to add to the collection. I remember the stores always being a little bit of an organized mess.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Sometimes when driving between the 416 and Kingston at night, the 401 in that stretch is so dead, I use my high-beams without coming across any vehicles for kilometres...

    City Centre Condominiums (Dntn Kitchener, Andrin, 3 + 12 + 18s, Quadrangle)

A large part of the site is a parking lot. And for the builder - do you mean Auburn building garbage monstrosities like The Renaissance in London? City Centre in Kitchener is being built by Andrin, not Auburn. I can see where the confusion came from though as they kinda sound similar.

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

That means that at least 3 GTA Nike Stores have now closed or will close soon: Sherway, Square One, and Eaton Centre. Will the Bloor Street store be the next to go? Are they walking away from their standalone store concept in Toronto?

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

Would an expansion for Sherway ever be in the cards? They could easily handle and attract top tenants to a 30 store expansion. Getting rid of key retailers like Nike and Miss Sixty shows they are struggling on the space front. These are prime tenants to have and a feather in any mall's cap...

    Dead/Decaying Malls of Greater Toronto

When was the old Walmart here demolished? I made the trek to Mountain Plaza this summer since there is a big Dutch store in the mall and I wanted to buy some gear for the Holland vs. Spain World Cup final. The Walmart was still open at this time. Looks like it used to be a Woolco. The parking...

Bayview Village has an LCBO - a quite nice LCBO at that too. Does it bring in the "wrong crowd"?

    MoveOntario 2020: GO Transit Electrification

Even if no one else wanted these trains, do you still honestly think that Harris would have considered electrification of the line?

    Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

hahahaha! I totally think the same thing, but thought I'd be seriously outnumbered due to the popularity of Lush. Or is it really that popular? They haven't really been opening that many new stores lately. Smells more like the household cleaner aisle at your local Canadian Tire than some...

    Square One Shopping Centre

I wouldn't label Victoria's Secret "upscale": they are in every mall in the US - even some that are borderline dead. Give it time in Canada, and they have the potential to be as ubiquitous as American Eagle. Remember when only a handfull of malls in Canada had AE like 10 years ago and it was a...
