    Definitely too lush for Tatooine!

I ride over Commissioners every day to and from work, so I'll keep an eye on things. We have plenty of bridge photos, so I thought I'd catch something a little different this morning.

Your drone better be there to capture that in 240 fps slow-mo!

The monthly Critical Mass group ride took place on Friday evening, and the destination was, of course, the Port Lands. 30 of us, many first-timers to the bridges, visited all three and breathed a collective sigh of relief not having to deal with the old Cherry/LSBE crossing and Villiers St. Here...

It'll be even better once they extend the streetcar network into the Port Lands over that new (and currently unused) bridge!

It turns out if you ask really nicely and you're on a bike, they'll let you ride across.

I'm guessing there was a site visit to make sure all the right boxes were checked off, and some deficiencies were found. I was watching them paint the bike lane and crosswalk at 4:30 pm, so who knows what else was missed.

Still better to open it late today than wait until tomorrow. The fewer trips I have to do through that godforsaken hellscape called Villiers, the better.

The Cherry St bridge wasn't officially open as of 7:45 am, but they let me cross anyway. They are still working on clearing snow and slush from the cycle track. Fencing is still up around Commissioners. I'll check back around 9:30 am.

BTW, if anyone doesn't know what The Lookout is, it's the blue structure (left side of the first photo) at the south end of the yellow Cherry St bridge. It's a shipping container with scaffolding and platforms above it. It will be open from 2 to 5 pm tomorrow, hopefully with staff on site to...

A couple more things I noticed today on Commissioners. The TTC bus stop is the hybrid style, with asphalt ramps and Zicla platform. The city seems to have a few different configurations depending on where you look. I wonder what factors into the decision on what style of use. The curbs...

The Keating Channel finally froze over, waiting for the bridges to open. ;)

The sign on Villiers Commissioners with the same message has been updated to say January 24 now.

Jan 23 seems to be the new date, "end of month" quoted elsewhere.

Yep, Cherry St looks great with the bridges lit up!
