Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

I’m sure many don’t know this, but there was a Conservative movement that hid behind when Trudeau was the PM
That's kind of the typical oscillation. Ontario tends to have the opposite end of the spectrum in provincial government vs the federal government. There are periods of overlap, but it tends to flip shortly after. I expect something similar with happen in 2029/2030, when Ford is likely to be swept from office, if the OLP picks a viable leader, and Carney would be lucky to secure another term following the next election.

How are the Liberals “the opposite end of the spectrum” from the Conservatives? FFS, the federal Liberals are further right than Bill Davis at this point.

The Carney Liberals are to the right of the Trudeau Liberals, in an attempt to forestall the oscillation to the CPC. Probably won't work long term but for CPC bungling and ineptitude. Ford (centre right at best) will give way to something more on the left.

Generally the NDP is outside the window of Canadian political oscillation. They don't really try to govern, they try to influence and protest.

I believe in a different universe, if Layton were healthy, we would see him as PM of a minority government.

They need to get back to working class issues, it all starts on the economic side of socioeconomic, something most people could and should get behind.

Their marquee project, dental and pharma care, as it stands now, is indirectly subsidizing low-wage employers who might've otherwise been prompted to provide coverage due to market conditions.

There is still hope for provincial and federal NDP.

It seems Ford's claim that he is more scrutinized has some holes. Quebec bought jets - for their air ambulance service, not government officials. An aircraft configured for medical service would not be compatible for passenger transport. Besides, Ornge has or is buying two Pilatus Pc-24 jets.

When? NDP doesn't have time for that. They are too busy with the following:
1. Determining whose equity card is bigger than the rest of equity cards.
2. Arguing whether a white man should ever have a voice in this country again.
3. Tripping over each other's pronouns.

Such a busy agenda doesn't leave much room for working class issues. Or anything to do with governing a country, for that matter.
