The property at 305 Bremner Blvd. is owned by the Government of Ontario. It’s nestled in a mixed-use neighbourhood where there are already tall residential towers, other attractions, restaurants and some public greenspace.

When asked about the legislative changes during a budget news conference, Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said requirements and use of the property is “from a long time ago and served a different purpose.”

“I think there’s a tremendous opportunity there,” he told reporters.

This parcel is the first station after Union on my transit fantasy map ever since I saw that split Line 1 proposal.

Doug Ford and this provincial government is the most corrupt and crooked government in the history of Canadian politics.

There is no way in hell that this government should be allowed to do this. Doug Ford is hellbent on destroying Toronto, and honestly enough is enough with this sycophant. There needs to be a mechanism in place that stops this idiocy because it's really gotten completely out of control.

Clearly this government doesnt have the city's best interest at heart, and they couldnt care less about the interest of it's residents so the obvious move is that they want to sell it to a developer to build some kind of mega tower.

Here is the plot of land that's in question:

And for context here's the iconic vista that Doug Ford wants to destroy:

from a long time ago and served a different purpose.” In a galaxy far, far away...
For what it's worth, I found the following article after searching up "305 Bremner Boulevard":

The provincial legislation in question is the SkyDome Act, 2002:

Until I encountered this thread, I actually was not proactively aware that the provincial government owned 305 Bremner for use as bus parking.

^Thanks! And for our transition folks, the surrounding buildings are 35-70s.

I have no love for this site as a bus parking lot, but I must admit, plopping down a building of any height here would obstruct a rather nice view of the dome and the tower.

I'm not sure I see any value in the site as parkland, but we are short of museum and gallery space in this city, maybe a 3-4s venue that was an architectural landmark could work.

Or..... I don't know.....maybe we could relocate a certain proposed spa from thew waterfront?

****

If we ignored views, the site area is such, when I model it out, I can fit two towers with 22-27M separation depending on how you mass, with a 4M setback on the podium on all sides. This provides for a tower floor plate of 740-840m2.

However, before people go piling giant towers on.....

@ProjectEnd may have input on area sewer capacity issues as he did further west. I'm not sure if they apply in this block or not, but that may be a consideration. I'm also not sure what's underneath this site, if anything, given the pumping station next door, and the ramp to get to the loading facilities under the dome.

Maybe the 2 million sqft convention centre can go there

The site is about 36,000ft2 give or take, about 33,000ft2 with a 4M setback on all sides.

So that would be a 60-storey convention centre. LOL So nope, that is not an option.

As a rough guide, Concord House is a mixed use, 1600 unit project on a similar sized property. The Rees St lot is just to the south of the Gardiner and might figure into a larger district plan. I’m sure that multiple uses, big and small, can be accommodated.

For example, a large gathering facility could be cantilevered over the highway to create larger floor space.

Hey just because it's an absurd and stupid suggestion doesn't mean Dougie's regime won't go right for it...
Exactly with all the hash that Doug Ford used before.....oh sorry i meant "dealt", that idea probably sounds extremely viable and amazing to him.

He'd probably even like to affix a ferris wheel to that 60 storey convention centre as well.

In fairness, I don't believe we know what the plan is yet?
