Toronto Ontario Line: Queen Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

Update: Excavation is now expected to conclude late Summer 2026 as per Metrolinx. They're not defending their original 2027 Queen Street re-opening timeline but it's likely going to open in some form with decking going over parts of the pit once excavation is complete.
Until it is open for streetcars again it will still be huge problem.

Honestly, I've gotten used to that. The York detour works well, maybe adds a few minutes. I kind of like the streetcar on Richmond and Adelaide Streets.

I'll be happy for Queen to re-open but I'll take the street re-opening for pedestrians in the meantime. Getting into the Eaton Centre from the financial district is a shit experience right now. Going through that dark hoarding sucks. Yes, you can take the PATH but it doesn't fix the problem where such an important entrance is dead for 5 years.

I believe the plan is to remove the hoarding from the bridge to Yonge Street first. Could happen as soon as this Summer. It's already been narrowed. Cadillac Fairview also wants the James Street hoarding gone ASAP. They're having trouble leasing 20 Queen Street (the tower at Queen and James). So we may see the storage yard reduced in size and broken up to allow a continuous passage before the end of the year.

I hope they use the Richmond and Adelaide tracks for the 503 when this is all done. Having the 501 on Queen, the 504 on king, and the 503 in the middle would be great. (and ideally the Richmond-Adelaide tracks get extended to Spadina as originally promised to help with the TIFF diversions)
