I don't get why people cannot respect other peoples opinions...
I agree with you. Whether someone likes or dislikes a particular building is largely subjective. Now, I don't expect the tower to win any major international architectural awards, but I am very happy to see what is being revealed at grade level with these historical properties. As a young man almost 50 years ago I lived in an apartment just one block south of this project. Even back then the Victorian properties were in disrepair and mostly boarded up. I walked past them every workday to the Sherborne subway. Fast forward to 2026 and I am an old man, and these historical properties are being brought back to life better than new! I cannot understand why anyone would thumb their nose at a project like this.

Is the core point of this forum not debate and discussion?

Yes it is and that is facilitated by users being respectful. Implying that another user is mentally unwell because of their opinion on the aesthetic of a building is disrespectful. @NextBlockOver 's comment is an example of disagreeing without personal attack, yours is veering on the ad hominem.

FWIW, I think 'great' is a pretty strong superlative here.

I think it turned out.....ok'ish, kinda/sorta.

That's subjective, to a point, but I certainly think there's room for greater aspiration, or so I would hope.

The heritage restoration I won't pass judgement on until I've seen it.

The brick podium on Howard has/had potential, but the ?balconies? look really odd there, I feel like this could have been done for similar $ with a vibe that would better fit the heritage.

A simple cornice at the roof level and windows that don't feel suburban office park would have been nice.

The renders implied curtain wall. In my humble opinion, that would have made this a much better looking building.

Respect others but, we exist in a world where anyone's opinion can become mainstream no matter how absurd of an opinion it is. Fundamentalism is supplanting Science. If experienced others can't call out opinions with the threat of insulting an individual than the world is doomed.

Curtainwall would be an aesthetic improvement however, different architectural design choices in tandem with the window wall selection could have dramatically improved aesthetics without affecting the budget too much. The standard residences being built in Toronto are sub-par feigning affordability by drastically undercutting square footage in narrow, undersized floor plans. What else is there but the outward appearance?
