TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

All the Proterras have been put in the dead storage lot. A number of agencies have pulled theirs as parts have become nearly impossible to source. No idea what’s up with PhoenixEV, the company that purchased Proterra’s bus business.
Bet TTC will still count them when they are trying to make their electric count seem impressive

A few pics showing the in-storage Proterras at North Queen.

will these buses be sold off? what a waste of taxpayers dollars by having relatively new buses starting to rot away in the dead line after only a few years of service. did they really have to buy so many buses for the trial that they were going to dump them in a few years?
25 buses is a very small amount in relation to the TTC's fleet. Also, they did not plan on getting rid of them until their full service life. They are only out of service now because after sales support by the company who bought Proterra's bus business has been unreliable, and in Edmonton's case (maybe even Toronto's too), hostile.

Reportedly, the BYDs are now being sent to the North Queen dead lot.
And the New Flyer XE40s have been apparently in service less over the past few weeks.

This electric bus experiment doesn't seem to be going so well overall. Who knows what problems the Novas are going to bring; any failures there could be quite spectacular since the TTC didnt test those buses before ordering a siginifcant batch of them.

With Proterra's nothing really could've been done as the parts issues couldnt be overcome, but I thought the TTC overcame the reliability issues with the BYDs over the past few months. I wonder why they may be being pushed out.

There’s only 10 of them and they’re real oddballs. They can’t even be charged with the standard J1772 charger. We will have to see what the TTC plans to do with them now.

From Merx, looks like TTC wants 100% EV para transit buses. I'm actually surprised there sticking with this EV agenda, when everyone appears to be backing away from it.

What should TTC move to other than hybrid buses to meet the goal for going green???

Seen a couple disabled XDE40s in the snow yesterday and today. Any problems with the fully electric fleet as well, or have I just been in the right places at the right times?

I am currently sitting on 3756 (88 South Leaside) so even if some are gone, not all are
It was apparently planned to send them all down. For whatever reason, that seems to have changed. One of the ones sent down even ended up going back to the division a couple days ago.

I think that these Hybrid and E busses have brakes that are too powerful or sensitive. Drivers seem to be taking advantage of this to slam on the brakes too often leaving people flying or holding on for dear life.

Same with the acceleration. Way too sudden and powerful for a city bus. They need to tune the motors to be more linear.

Wouldnt be surprised if the big reason is brake regen

Its almost like they are using the emergency brake application to stop at a bus stop, imagine a person who is injured or disabled trying to hold on for dear life?

I was sitting in a row of 3 and it knocked me over one seat because they brake so.hard.
