King Square (Woodbine Av @ Markland St, Markham, King Sq Ltd, 9s, P+S/IBI)

King Square Commercial Phase 1, located on Woodbine Avenue (north of 16th Avenue) in Markham, is a mature project with all approvals, sales and financing in place. This mixed use project is being developed in three phases. The first phase consists of over 340,000 GFA in a three-storey Asian themed commercial, retail and convention centre complex. This phase includes 1,400 parking spaces and a landscaped green roof on approximately four acres of land. Phase 1 launched in 2011 and approximately 65% of the building has been sold with commitments from several major retailers and restaurants.

Needs more cowbell…

or failing that, some height from a mid-rise hotel or residential tower. With our development land shortage, it seems so wasteful not to go multi-use, and higher. I hope there's a green roof up there.

A green roof is a good way for wasteful developers to atone for their sins!

Update:

March, 2019
King Square remains focused on sales and leasing. To help with this, they recently applied to the City of Markham for a zoning by-law amendment to allow for additional uses to accommodate a broader range of tenants.

Thanks for the update! hopefully some more innovative retailers local and international will take part :) The original plan was to go for international retailers no?

A grocery store opened up as well as some other amenities. It seems like the plan is to build condos eventually and the mall will exist to serve them
