Announced in the 2017 Ontario budget today.
Replacement of the bridges over the Grand River on Highway 401 in the City of Kitchener. Construction is expected to start in 2019 and be completed in 2022.
It will be interesting to see how the widening work they're doing now through Cambridge, including the new ramp to Hwy 8 would help the phantom congestion.
Yes, I've been reading from some MTO reports they'll be working on another bridge crossing the Grand River & 401; so I'm expecting a widening. There is also in MTO's long term plan for a 401 West London exit from Hwy 8 south. This would alleviate the backup of traffic from Hwy 8 & King St to 401.
From MTO:
Anticipated West-East Ramp (Highway 8 to Highway 401) Ramp Closure: FULL CLOSURE April 22 - 11:00 pm to 4:30 am (April 23)
Anticipated East-West Ramp (Highway 401 to Highway 8) Single Lane Ramp Closure: April 24 - April 28 11:00 pm to 6:00 am
North / South to East Ramp ( King...

As I mentioned in the other threads, these are by no means small widenings. They are core-collector upgrades to the highway 401 in areas never seeing this type of expansion in decades.
There has been lots of talk of the highway 401 expansion through Milton for over a decade, with multiple open...
Yes I did, to put focus on individualized projects. We don't have one generalized one TTC topic either, one Gardiner expressway topic, or one Metrolinx topic (well, yes, sort of, but I think that should be split out too when it comes to major investment projects).
The transportation forum would...
I agree there's some duplication out there and some cleanup is necessary. If you can find the dups out there and I'll ask the mod to merge them together, pinning the information I provided in the first post, the help would greatly be appreciated :)
The reason for some dormancy on those other...
I would like to see more focused topics in this thread in general, similar to the Buildings category. I think having more focused discussions is a good thing.
I don't think there's any point convincing each other as it seems fairly clear we're on polar ends.
Lastly, Toronto is becoming less...
