Work has not stopped on campus projects, in fact they keep fencing off more portions for various projects including repaving of Tower Rd and work on footpaths. It's seriously annoying trying to walk through the university right now because half the paths are closed.

Not to mention even the workmanship is shoddy, as you can see in the photo above with the huge gap between the stone and the bench portion. I'd rather have the basic city bench you see worldwide that works perfectly fine.

Hardly surprising. I don't think they've put up a nice looking building in the last 50 years at least.

They have plenty of inspections and regulations, China isn't a knuckledragging tinpot country you know. Japan has even more stringent regulations than us and can manage infrastructure far more effectively. It's called will to work, and Canadians are lazy as hell.

LOL that wong tam takes time out of her day to save some shitty warehouses instead of doing something about the multiple tent cities in her ward.

Some randomly stacked boxes covered in crumpled aluminum foil. Brilliant stuff. Hard to tell if it was designed by a hack architect or a toddler playing with blocks.

The portion on the corner isn't that notable but the buildings further East with the textured faces and the little courtyard are quite interesting, I wouldn't want those changed much. Although the paving stones there really need to be worked on.

Development notice boards have made their appearance. I almost walked into one taking my regular shortcut through the parking lot. Not jumping for joy over this one, my shortcut and regular businesses will be replaced with some stupid atrium and yet more miles of glass wall on the street. No...

It looks alright, the street level glass entry is the nicest part I'd say. It has some very poor reviews from residents on google though.

I was thinking the same thing, but after a few decades of use and grime it should fit in with the rest I think.

Actually a nice idea, very thoughtful.

    Nothing but rubble there now.

Yet another reclad that makes the building look more dated not less. This keeps happening. Brutalist office towers may not be hot today but in a few decades things like this will be regretted.

In terms of food I'd say Isshin is a bigger loss, but there's other ramen around. There needs to be an effort on the part of the city to protect or replace music venues though, especially after the current crisis blows over. The number of live venues downtown is rapidly dwindling, it was already...

A small crew from Priestly demo has been working inside for a week or so doing prep work or something. Seems like it would be faster to just burn it down though.
