Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Is that the new bridge over the Credit? I hadn't realized they'd even tendered that piece. Not sure how I missed that on the only time I drove over it back in January since ... sigh ... late 2019.

TTC: Yonge North Subway Extension (Finch-Richmond Hill) (Unfunded/Planned)

Agreed - but a bit too pro-subway. If he hadn't have pushed Yonge and Sheppards extension as much when he was on the TTC board, and during the first term, and pivoted to LRT sooner, then perhaps more would have been started before someone else came in and stopped it. And perhaps pushing for the...

    VIA Rail

I honestly haven't seen the word bi-hourly before, but if bi-weekly can mean twice a week, I'm not sure why bi-hourly can't mean twice an hour. But does it really matter?

    TTC: Streetcar Network

I always assumed it was the former, because I've certainly hard of them paying for the latter. But now I wonder if it's because they'd prefer them to not have a legal duty to put human safety before loyalty to one's employer. Though that does start to send me to whacknut conspiracy world ...

Heck ... I'd settle for twice a day, let alone twice an hour! Though I don't see Detroit being a big seller. I had the radio on the other day (a rare event these days), and the DJ was actually making fun of this ... going down the who in Toronto is going to actually want to go to Detroit - let...

GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation

Hey, I DO live next to a school, and I'd complain if the kids were often playing that loudly at 3 AM! But it's never happened yet. Heck, I used to live near an Irish pub. You used to hear the occasional scream when Ireland had done particularly well at some sporting event. But I never...

Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design)

What property is in the way of that? Probably a church or a Ford "donor".

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

True, in Ontario at least, if done safely. However, the motorist who puts themselves in a position that a car can safely pass on the right, could be ticked, for not staying to the right. Perhaps not on urban highways, but certainly on rural ones.

What I don't get, is the closest bit to Overlea is the traction power substation. There's a lot of other places that could go, that would leave more space for dense commercial along Overlea. I have to wonder if the rocket scientists who draw these maps have ever been to Toronto.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

Perhaps that's why they don't let the engineers speak directly to the public. We have professional ethical requirements, that would not allow actually lying. Maybe there should be professional public relations licensing. (though, note that the government has exempted government-employed...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Seldom? Gosh, the number of times that one is sitting on a streetcar, and one hears "This streetcar is going to divert via ... because of (accident, power problem, ....)" ... perhaps less often now the CLRVs and ALRVs aren't breaking down everywhere ... but often enough.

TTC: Yonge North Subway Extension (Finch-Richmond Hill) (Unfunded/Planned)

That would have been late in his second term. I thought he also had motions to advance the Yonge extension during his first term, and while he was a TTC board member when Lastman was mayor, back around the turn of the century.

Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design)

I don't see how that goes well, given they said they moved it already off Overlea to avoid the driveway for a big European church. (of course, I don't actually think that's the reason they moved it. They just said that because it looks like they care - and it's going to be fun watching that one...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Sounds like the kind of problems New York City is having, and Toronto and London were having a decade or two ago. A lack of adequate funding for repairs, and only $ for big flashy projects. Ultimately, where it's been fixed, it's been by bringing in new outside management who have the tenacity...

    VIA Rail

It doesn't sound like anything is going to be announced soon. Are we any further ahead than in 1983 when it was hoped there'd be an announcement before the 1984 election?
