Disagree. I find this building quite beautiful.

Thanks Peepers for the helpful information. I have sent an email to them.

Adma, you've been in fine form over these past few pages and I have enjoyed the debate. My question is, to what extent do you think this increasingly common "fascination with the pre-existing" is as much about the human scale of these older buildings as it is about their cladding choices or...

    Toronto Tourism

I feel that the two best ways to be heavily touristed are to either become a globally important city or to become a city that has a unique and compelling identity or culture. Right now Toronto doesn't quite fit into either category which I think is why some of the posters on the board are...

Best strip club in Downtown Toronto?

Agreed, the video was hilariously awkward at the end though.

Best strip club in Downtown Toronto?

Christopher Hume seems to like Jilly's, although he claims he is more interested in the building's history and potential.... http://www.thestar.com/videozone/1104671--tour-jillys-with-christopher-hume

    Toronto Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences | 236.51m | 67s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

This is a really cool idea CanadianNational. As a possible extension - it would also be interesting to take the same idea and apply it to the stretch of the downtown railway lands by making a type of rolling hill land bridge and park. Doing this would make the waterfront more accessible...

    Toronto The Uptown Residences | ?m | 48s | Pemberton | Burka

I agree that this is pretty disappointing. I'm hoping that when some one eventually builds on top of the Stollery's building that Uptown will be largely covered up and only the top half (which in my opinion is at least the more attractive half) will be visible from Bloor street.

Lol.. well it is a rare and notable example of low-rise stucco.

    Toronto's Ugliest Building

I'm with you Adma, I would choose the former too.

    Toronto's Ugliest Building

Further to this I think it would be great to start a separate thread where people had to submit a list of the 10 buildings that they would most like to remove from Toronto. The idea would be for addition by subtraction and the catch would be that each building would be replaced by decent (but...

    Toronto's Ugliest Building

I agree with your point but I feel the need to clarify that I don't aim to be the poster boy for architectural or cultural populism. I simply feel that there is something to be said about the type of beauty that is felt immediately and without self-aware rationalization. I think you and I...

    Toronto's Ugliest Building

Point taken on my Colonnade mispell, I unknowingly violated one of my own pet peeves. Re: the Torontoist article, I had actually previously read that article last year and it did teach me a few things about the historical and architectural significance of the building which at the time I was...

    Toronto's Ugliest Building

Adma, while I respect the fact that you are a prolific poster on this site I have to say that your comment here both pissed me off and disappointed me. I do not claim to be an expert in architecture but am an enthusiastic amateur and have for the better part of two years been a regular reader...

    Toronto's Ugliest Building

I don't know how people can dislike Robarts as to me it seems like a Brutalist building that anyone can appreciate given it's quirky peacock design and comparatively good aging. If I were to turn the anti-Brutalist guns on anything in the area it would be the Collonade building on bloor. It is...
