The city is very unlikely to be the ones funding any of these subway or lrt projects so while it's interesting to see what they would prioritize, they will not be the ones deciding which project to build next
Line is already proposed to be branched. Both the DSBRT and GO LE are already going to provide easy connections to pickering if this gets built anyway.
Build it as BRT and then theres plenty of reason and opportunity to branch and even interline services with the DSBRT. Also would maintain GO...
to make the investment worth while i think theyd have to either cut a third of the stations or preferably build it as brt alongside a line 4 extension to STC and UTSC 🙏
Nothing official has been release. Will likely result in a lot less changes, suspect most would be around jane station, and maybe the 927 and ofc the airport express busses. Maybe a new 52 g terminus
Not sure if they've been taken out yet but as of a couple years ago Mt Dennis station had a farebox for tokens at the main entrance. It'd be funny to see it fill up with commemorative coins.
Big difference if its just automatically braking with normal brakes or if the emergency brakes are misfiring. Magnetic emergency brakes stop the vehicle very abruptly and can injure riders on board, and potentially do damage to the tracks.
I doubt very many people will be taking it end to end but not because of a lack of demand, but because of a lack of speed.
I living near Eglinton east of Kennedy, and traveling to KW a lot, would absolutely take the line end to end to catch the Kitchener train if it were fast. Unfortunately it...
There are plenty of street running LRTs with high floor vehicles and level boarding. Definitely not feasible on the Streetcar system anytime soon but i wasn't talking about the streetcars. Read the full message before you try and correct someone
It doesn't matter much until trains are operating near peak capacity, but high-floor trams typically also have faster boarding and alighting times due to more spacious interior layouts, allowing for shorter dwell times at stations. Don't see it being an issue on Hurontario or Finch, but I...
Interestingly, the existing Via station is also closer to downtown as the crow flies (Ottawa station-Parliment) than Summerhill is to Union in Toronto. On the O-Train it's only about a 12 minute ride. It's not exactly an ideal walkable location but it's not nearly as far out as many are making...
Very late, but I think the transfer would be short enough that it's not really necessary. With all of the potential service impacts to line 1 would it could cause I don't think it would be worth it. I think the biggest benefit of interlining would be the connection between lines 4 and 6, but if...
At least in gravenhurst i know for the off season theres rarely more than 1 driver everyday at least from a single taxi service. Doubt the winter ridership would be enough to entice more taxi drivers. Summer is likely a different story but sucks for the people living there year round, especially...
