    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Bruce has been in the Deputy CEO role for coming up on a year already, so that makes the most sense short-term.

    Josh then?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

If I remember and understand it correctly, the TBM was supposed to go ~5m below the Schulich building at York U for the TYSSE. They had spent a tonne of money on a jet-grout matrix injection under the foundations to provide extra support, but it never ended up working. When it finally came time...

    Toronto 530 The East Mall | 73.57m | 22s | Hazelview | Turner Fleischer

So someday do we get Queensway streetcar to Sherway, and a higher-order (BRT or 'steertcar') connection from Renforth Gateway to Sherway?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

After re-acquainting myself with the FBC, I was surprised to see that it specifically referenced "4-car UPxpress and GO trains" (current UPX are 3 cars, sometimes 2). Makes me think we'll get new matching rolling stock for UPX (albeit different livery I would think). It also shows the hourly...

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

Agreed, Weston is only necessary if you think that's the end of the line. Its more logical to run it to Mount Dennis, and terminate there. I'd likely still update the platform though for the 'if needed' flexibility of using the track.

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

The additional platform that's been added at Weston is about 3/4 width (same at Mount Dennis), but with the CPKR-facing side fenced off. There is lots of width to bring a track in there to service a Bolton line, and each would just need some minor platform and roof widening to accommodate.

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Well, I guess this is all moot now. :)

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

As a three-days-a-week downtown commuter from Weston, yes this sucks a bit, but it is not the end of the world. On the local trains going downtown, I imagine the platforms will be very full for the morning rush, and we might hit standing room only, so there will be no room for Bloor passengers...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Are we at the point soon where Metrolinx decides to shift the Richmond Hill service onto its spur that crosses over the Brickworks? We know the existing route through the valley is both slow and has a high climate risk from flooding. Doing so would be expensive needing likely at least the...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I imagine that additional line 4 cars would be accommodated in the Line 2 MSF planned somewhere north of the YNSE.

    Toronto Harbour Ferries

Agree there won't be protests. Another wrinkle that makes this fleet replacement strategy difficult is that the current fleet of ferries serve two purposes: getting people to the islands AND getting vehicles across (for contractors, for the City's water treatment plant, etc.). The least...

    Toronto Harbour Ferries

Its actually a reasonable change. These vessels will have a minimum 30 year life...you can't be buying diesel now for that life when the other technology is in-service already in Kingston...the public wouldn't accept it and the politicians won't accept it, particularly in light of TransformTO...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Just to add on to your comment...remember cplchanb that Ontario local transit has very high farebox recovery than most other jurisdictions...both across Canada and certainly in the US. If TTC is relying ~70% on the farebox, NYC is down at 53%, Chicago at 41% and LA at 15%. We should celebrate...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

As of a few years ago at least, my understanding was there were limitations on what could be installed by 400-series highways, but the rail corridors, being federally regulated, might have been outside of the Corridor Management purview, and Metrolinx started popping them up to take advantage...
