    Toronto Harbour Ferries

Agree there won't be protests. Another wrinkle that makes this fleet replacement strategy difficult is that the current fleet of ferries serve two purposes: getting people to the islands AND getting vehicles across (for contractors, for the City's water treatment plant, etc.). The least...

    Toronto Harbour Ferries

Its actually a reasonable change. These vessels will have a minimum 30 year life...you can't be buying diesel now for that life when the other technology is in-service already in Kingston...the public wouldn't accept it and the politicians won't accept it, particularly in light of TransformTO...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Just to add on to your comment...remember cplchanb that Ontario local transit has very high farebox recovery than most other jurisdictions...both across Canada and certainly in the US. If TTC is relying ~70% on the farebox, NYC is down at 53%, Chicago at 41% and LA at 15%. We should celebrate...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

As of a few years ago at least, my understanding was there were limitations on what could be installed by 400-series highways, but the rail corridors, being federally regulated, might have been outside of the Corridor Management purview, and Metrolinx started popping them up to take advantage...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Our Bay street consulting is 2-3 days suggested in-office, but also not fully policed. Other restriction is we have ~30 hoteling spots for a team of 60+, so we're never going to get back to full in-office, and having just renewed our ~10 floor lease, we're not taking any more space.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

As a former TBM designer, I'm curious what the problem is..... (sorry, missed it if it has been written earlier).

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Got it, looks like they'll build a new retaining wall and put it south of the columns...a mirror of where the road is on the other side. Explains why the deck won't be impacted.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

It's still only 3 tracks under Islington, and it seems the City just redid that overpass. Is there an intention for it to be quad track there, or will it always pinch then widen to go through the 401 tunnels?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Only advantage to a loop (other than a 407 transitway line) might be ability to shuttle vehicles from a secondary yard....assuming the next yard would be at one of the north ends of a U, that would be a very long deadheading journey.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I had thrown in an LRT that went from YYZ to Long Branch, but hid the layer when I made that PDF.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Dream scenario could be a Line 4 loop like this, maybe 2050 timeline, hence the other extensions often mentioned included. Built off the exiting Subway/streetcar map.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s

This intersection could survive with only one lane of traffic heading south through the intersection, giving one lane to bus only. Not many people would be turning right anyway if they're coming down from Dixon...they'd do that earlier.

    Mississauga Pearson Transit Hub | ?m | ?s | GTAA

Your shuttle, in Windsor at least, has been solved by the announcement 3 days ago about extending Amtrak's train to the Windsor VIA station. article here

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

I've heard they're looking at Sheppard East and West.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Eglinton North can probably be re-named 'Sunnybrook Park', to align with the closest Crosstown stop at Leslie.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s

I see this as a way of nicely packaging for the Province a way to support the City's operating hole without it seemingly like the government is just giving Toronto a cheque. The City has a hole of X hundred million...either give us money to fill part of that entire hole, or take responsibility...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Presumably you're talking about an inspection on GO, as you wouldn't be tapping off on TTC? And it wasn't live on the weekend on TTC.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

In this morning's press conference, they mentioned that was coming soon.

    Toronto Harbour Ferries

Owner of Centreville bought one of them back in 2017 (article link), and its visible in streetview below. It's even been tagged on Google Maps.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think this has been discussed here (somewhere) before, but I think the Leaside Spur Trail is still zoned in a way that it could be converted back to a transport corridor. You'd have about 140 homes (and one condo) that probably wouldn't be happy, but I wouldn't it be hard to justify a $1B...
