    Toronto Weston Park Development | 172.13m | 50s | Castlepoint Numa | SvN

Although nothing is online, a community meeting revealed changes to the plan. Mostly a reorganization of the church-related auditorium and gym into a smaller portion of the podium and a new upper floor of the moved church. Video these screen grabs came from is here:

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

I think the progress of Alto raises this question too....with Air Canada a part of the consortium, the connection to Alto is almost assured, so it likely takes one of two forms: 1) Alto goes through Union to the airport - this brings up a whole bunch of corridor capacity questions (unless its...

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

I think all the new info that came out with the Council motion to make Old Weston / St. Clair an UP station (suggestion that UP will expand to 5 cars, that headways could come under 10 minutes) points to UP becoming an in-between GO-subway frequency/capacity surface line to the airport, giving...

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

Thanks. Although there have been comments out there about Ontario Line west someday going to the airport (maybe from politicians? line on MTO map?), Jane LRT was on Transit City for a reason, and I think the N/S connection along the majority of the underground Jane alignment would be more...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

When Metrolinx did the press release saying that major schedule changes were coming to the Kitchener Line effective November 23 (link), it made me wonder if that would coincide with the Mount Dennis station opening, and therefore Line 5 opening. I guess that date is still possible even if this...

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

That's not true of the folks in fleet engineering. We're seeing pullback in lots of places, partly because of manufacturing capacity to deliver, but also the funding.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

I think its been mentioned before, but the "Future Track" (top below) on the Park Lawn station supports the OL extension through there. Additionally, the underpass under the Gardiner for the rail corridor already has an un-used box for 2 tracks on the north side: My thinking is the line...

Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | Metrolinx

The 2025 TTC budget document (link) highlights the $3.6B Line 1 TMSF on a 2026-2035 time horizon (pg. 99 of the link), which is a significantly larger project than the storage tracks linked above. For comparison, the same doc puts the Line 2 western yard (Obico) at $3.1B.

    GO Richmond Hill Line

I walk this twice a day in Weston. The Kitchener line is trenched under the bridge, but the CP mainline remains level.

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

My understanding the interim terminal is really a landside terminal that will service a number of remote stands that will take overflow during the major expansion to T1 (and eventual replacement of T3 post 2035). Accelerator also includes a number of systems upgrades across the airport, and...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Data centre is what has replaced the Lowes. It's almost closed in....pretty huge building with large transformers for all the juice required.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

They tore down the buildings at the corner SE corner of Horner and Kipling, adjacent to Willowbrook. Anyone know if that's MX expanding, or other redevelopment?

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Because the new data centre (Microsoft I think) needs the access road, my guess would be the tracks are re-aligned as follows, and they cut out the embankment on the other side of the support pier (to mirror the road).

    Hamilton-Niagara passenger rail enhancements

I was thinking the same thing, that diversion to the Welland tunnel might make sense. Similar to the addition of 2 tracks under the 401 on Kitchener, the grades allow the potential for an additional tunnel to be added under the canal if required. Arguably, the track layout into Niagara could...

    Toronto Bike Share

Thought you meant for Toronto. BikeShare bikes do not have easily removeable batteries, so can't swap them, and they won't be wholesale replacing the fleet to move away from that. Other cities are moving away from the battery swaps for their own challenges.

    Toronto Bike Share

Van fleet to bring back bikes for centralized charging is very inefficient and adds to the operating costs.

    Toronto Bike Share

Bikeshare wants to move to electric bikes as a wider proportion of their overall fleet, and that requires docks for charging anyway.

Any future plans for half-mile bridge?

Or they would double the pier size and widen like they did over the Humber for a very similar design/size bridge. https://www.botconstruction.ca/project/georgetown-south-go-rail-line-structures-and-widening-weston-ontario/

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

I think the big airlines liked piers, so piers we get.

    GO 2.0 Expansion Plan

With new crayon maps out recently for GO 2.0 and Alto, is it possible there's some behind the scenes coordination on new corridor infrastructure required for both projects along the old CPR Leaside spur (over Brickworks) and CPR Havelock? Could they share trackage for short periods within the...
