At one point, there was a morning rush Kitchener line train that became a Lakeshore East train and an pre afternoon rush Lakeshore East train that became a Kitchener line train at Union. I don't know if it still cycles this way or not
Unsure which GO Transit thread to post this in, but a very interesting article from the Trillum about some of the details of the final days of DB and Onexpress before Metrolinx let them go.
From this article it looks like Metrolinx was the bad guy in all this, and makes Verster and the rest of...

Orillia councilors support resolution to expand GO to Orillia using bus connection to Allandale Waterfront to start.
Having just traveled the route this weekend, why does the RIRO section of Highway 11 between Barrie and Gravenhurst (and to some extent 35/115 RIRO section) look so "dumpy"
Not all parts of course, there are some newer and well kept homes and business, however for a fair amount of those...
I suspect that between Richmond Hill GO trips and 1 train each direction for ONR per day going North/South through the diamond there just isn't the traffic to justify the expense. Dramatically increase GO trips, increase daily ONR trips and maybe return the Southbound Canadian to daily trips...
I suspect it was CN wanting to be rid of it, as the route and customers along route fit better with ONR business needs than it fits with CN's business needs.
So ONR crews will operate the freight trains right from McMillan yard to North Bay? If so, I can only assume many ONR engineers and conductors are currently doing Subdivision familiarity training right now.
I believe switching will still take place in North Bay, as CN will still operate it's current trains to North Bay, but now will pay ONR for the trips it takes. There is very little yard capacity at Washago to complete any transfers.
Now just to play devil's advocate, if Metrolinx had not planned anything and let the public assume everything was normal service today, and the weather was much worse than what we eventually got, would we all be posting "what a chitshow" GO service was today, and how Metrolinx should have...
Not all stations received the paddles at the same time, and enforcement of policy is at different levels at different stations. Some tenured Station Ambassadors question the wisdom of holding these flashing badminton rackets when a vast majority of Canadian passengers would have no clue of their...
I can picture a heratage moment vignette, the wooden pole nobody owns but no one wants to remove! This pole has existed since time immortal and now, part of our heritage !
