I find the HOV lanes to be entirely pointless. They're impossible to enforce. How is an OPP officer suppose to figure out if a single occupant vehicle using the HOV lane is cheating the system or has paid the toll to use the HOV lane?
I must admit I've driven on the HOV lane (for less than a...
You don't actually think they'll maintain the at-grade crossings if they decide to run HSR down this route, do you? I would imagine the Stouffville line would see a lot of upgrading.
I'm referencing the "GO construction" thread where some people are speculating the slow down in Stouffville...
If a Toronto based customer has a container they want to send to the ports in Montréal, they'll usually put it on rails instead of trucking it to Montréal. Majority of the cans we load on our Montreal bound trains are destined for the ports.
We get a lot of containers for the Montreal ports. We...
Some people on this forum have speculated that ALTO might run along the Stouffville corridor. If true, than they should construct a stop at Unionville where it could help connect riders with a future 407 transitway and the Stouffville GO line. But after that, I would make the next stop Union...
Yeah, no!
We're not adding a HSR stop to the Eglinton Crosstown.
Go look at other countries HSR.
It's meant to be a "down town - down town" service. Not a "faster" commuter rail. HSR should be designed to compete with short distance airlines.
It's definitely crossed my mind a lot. An Ontario centric HSR, "Ottawa - Peterborough - Toronto (Union station) - Mississauga (Pearson Airport) - Kitchener - London - Windsor". It could be a single line.
lol, why the harsh tone in your response? I was merely speculating, not making a statement. Heck, I was actually asking a question. I don't think I made a hypothesis at all.
Ah, the answer I was looking for. Thank you.
What I want to know is what happen to all the cars that used to be parked on the side of the road? It's not like these people all decided to sell their cars after the bus lanes were built. These cars must have migrated else where. Most likely blocking another lane of traffic else where.
Converting the UPX into an Ontario line style metro sounds much better than the "Smart Track" solution proposed by John Tory.
If this were a real possibility, than perhaps we can reconsider building GO stations at King-Liberty, Spadina- Front Street & St. Clair W?
Allow for the GO train to...
Just so I'm clear, are you suggesting that MX needs to build the full fledge, rail grade separated "Scarborough junction" if GO wants to maintain AD2W service on the Stouffville line while still allowing for express service on the LSE? This was the Scarborough Junction that Verster was referring...
Adding "RapidTO" style bus lanes on Finch would have achieved the same thing as the LRT, but at a cheaper cost. Plus it would have been built much quicker.
