In the report it mentions that they could fit the 60 additional streetcars within the existing yard space, but at 'crush load', which is not efficient, so they would need to still invest 85M to build out new storage tracking at Hillcrest.
I'm confused... why would there be a 4604 car? 4603 was the final car of the 204 car order, was it not? Can you elaborate on where this 4604 car is coming from?
The ballooning fix list also includes all normal maintenance items, and since these are work-orders. Changing the emergency stop button on 165 vehicles means (at least - is there only one?) 165 work orders... one could see how things can add up quickly in that way.
I guess our biases affect how a TorStar article like this is interpreted. A couple lines stuck out to me:
“The number of open work orders is not a reflection of contract or vehicle performance,” Green said in an email.
Bombardier spokesperson Kaven Delarosbil also said in an email the number...
I’m not sure to be honest, but as someone who has both had bikes stolen and been nearly killed by aggressive drivers executing illegal maneuvers, I would prefer we start with more enforcement on the roads before worrying about bike thefts. At least I feel a lot more empowered with protecting my...
I flew into Montreal two weeks ago and it took 1h15m to get downtown via cab and another 20m wait in line for the cabs. Granted, that was because my flight was delayed 2 hours and I arrived at 330.
But the biggest issue at the moment is the variability, my walk to the train is constant. The...
WRT the competitiveness of VIA vs air, as a frequent business traveller between MTL and Toronto, I would say that at current trip times and frequencies it already is competitive for some travellers.
I often take morning flights into MTL from YTZ and usually take the 830. I can be in the office...
Competitive contract there was referring to a process whereby TTC or whoever goes out to vendors/suppliers with RFPs and has a process to select the vendor with the best product. They weren’t referring to prices.
You can't take any liquids, but it's fine to take food in. We often do this so as to avoid being locked into the (usually) high priced vendors with questionable quantity.

Layoffs starting in 2019 it sounds like.
He also biked away on the wrong side of that road, in that narrow section between bremner and lakeshore. I hate bikers like that (saying that as a year-round TO biker)
The current configuration has a dedicated green for cyclist with no right on red for northbound Bathurst vehicles. If you watch the infrastructures use you will see it would be better served by a lane on the north side of Adelaide as currently the majority of cyclists crossing Bathurst wait in a...
^some are overthinking and not thinking at the same time, like comparing the weights of the entire LRV to a small SUV and wondering with bewilderment how the 30x weight difference could have pushed the LRV off course, not considering that the force required to deflect one set of trucks/segment...
