    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I'm not sure going back to the TTC being in charge of everything without other major reforms is a good idea. For all of Metrolinx' faults, the one thing the province got right in creating them is undertanding the need to have an overarching and centralized planning authority that can take into...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

You still have to deal with pedestrian conflicts with people crossing the street in order to reach the station or just... well... crossing the street. There is also the issue of the lack of turn back facilities at Science Centre meaning that even with a simple grade separations you can't have...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

The Canada Line is still nowhere near its ultimate capacity, with the signalling system capable of running trains every 90s (currently every 3m), and trains able to be extended to 50m trains (platforms are either already long enough, or have built in knock out panels). In regards to Finch West...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

It has been a circus. It took them 5 years to enter service after being delivered because they had non-stop problems during testing, including apparently one time where some windows just randomly shattered.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

California HSR has proven that a lot of good can happen when you coordinate with local railroads to provide large scale improvements to multiple systems, such as what happened with the electrification of CalTrain. Coordinating construction efforts in such a way that you can use another project...

Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | Metrolinx

You're probably right, however by that same token I don't foresee the downtown tunnel happening anytime soon either.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

There's a train arriving at Stevenson, and you can see the lights for the next train at Mount Olive waiting for the Green Light. They are less than 1 minute apart.

Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | Metrolinx

That was the original plan until the 2008 recession had them scope that part out. The Major Mackenzie stop is plased where it is in order to allow for the construction of a bus tunnel in the future (although it will probably take until LRT conversion for that to happen).

    Here's some bunching. Any Questions?

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

And the "but" has been our point all along. You can't just cherry pick a bit of the sentence you agree with and ignore the context, you are quite literally arguing in bad faith. Same thing with your response to @urbanclient. Light Rail is a vague term, and just because something is true for one...

Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | Metrolinx

Its not even about expropriation or houses in the way, its the homeowners worrying that a train 40m deep will somehow cause rumbling and noise (complete bs), but for some reason MX decided to appease them.

Highway 401 Transit and Auto Tunnel

You do understand that induced demand applies to every piece of infrastructure right? Using this logic you can justify not spending money on anything. "Why are we building the Ontario Line? No matter how many new subway lines you build it will never be enough". Yes, that is a true statement...

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

A huge improvement over Line 6, maybe. A form of rapid transit that gets you across town at reasonable speeds, no not really. I'll be the first to admit as @T3G pointed out to me that Prague's trams do feature much higher speeds than many of its contemporary "Type B" trams, such as those in...

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

Let's take a look at the Blue Line shall we? Its a large space inefficient rail line in the median of a massive parkway/car sewer, where every intersection has boom gates, and stations are accessed by these large overpasses Its less of a tram/light rail, and what a conventional rail line...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I wonder if at some point we should ditch the accessibility icons in favour of "not accessible" icons. Who knows, could save the TTC some money on ink.
