It looks so much like IKEA that I forgot about the uni's colours. The blue worked on the Student Learning Center because it sort of blends with the sky looking up, but here it's just an assault on the streetscape.
Seems to want to relate to the Bond Place Hotel. I kind of like that building but not the non-original ground floor panelling.
They really should restore and integrate the existing brick buildings. Another example of why even insignificant older buildings should be preserved. No human scale...
Toronto's not a museum city, they do layers of history here with new additions complementing old structures. Considering how dreary and car-centric the outskirts are, any housing densification in the downtown center while preserving the most important heritage aspects is welcome.
The corners look ok to me. Doesn't look like they could have been done any other way with this pattern?
Aside from the gaps, wish the edges could have been welded to the front piece.
