what's the point of even sitting that far from the pitch?
They had similar temporary stands in Sao Paolo when I attended in 2014. It's still a fun atmosphere and sometimes the best seat you can get/afford is far from the pitch. Views were fine and I much prefer the form of temporary seating than the 80K seat stadiums they build in some countries that never get filled again.

Some of the seats in this temp stand are $1300!

only for the first game - Canada's opening game

FIFA expansion update from this morning.

More structures are being built on the North end, right up to the Food Building, including a structure over the Food Building's South stairs/entrance.

Thanks as always for these updates.

The North update is pretty interesting. The structure they are building looks more permanent than temporary.

TFC's home opener is March 14. Doesn't seem like the north end will be ready by then.

Also Canada Soccer is rumoured to be announcing matches against Iceland and Tunisia for end of March

The North Stand lower bowl upgrades are permanent, the upper bowl will be temporary like the south stand extension

I think there are supposed to be more seats on either end of what's already built. You can see some of the westernmost part of the structure being built in the foreground of your photo.

Great shots as always!

It is crazy to me that there have been approx 5 iterations of the North End stand configuration since BMO has opened.
- The original open North end
- The first iteration with a small raised stand and some field level seats.
- The Tim Lieweikie renovation
- The Argos reconfiguration with most of the north stand removed/converted to retractable seating
- The patio/viewing space reimagination
- and now the FIFA configuration with a permanent north stand with luxury suites.
