TTC: Other Items (catch all)

There are something like 3000 assaults a year?

Personally I take it often and notice a lot of shady characters. Even the not shady trips are annoying because SOMEONE thinks we all want to hear their tiktok feed or music out loud.
Just because they're "shady" doesn't mean they're bothering you, or anyone else.

You are in a city, other people are going to be making noise around you. I didn't realize watching tiktok on the TTC was equivalent to assaulting someone.

Any other greivances you want to air? I hear festivus is soon.

This is the Internet, it's always Festivus...

Me too.

I have noticed the following recently:

  • Those who preach the Bible (not actual priests, popes, bishops or pastors) with either drug or mental health issues
  • Those who use drugs on the subway
  • Those who put back a can of cheap beer on the subway in full construction gear
  • Those who try to fight others on the subway for one reason or another without cause
  • Homeless sleeping on entire benches of seats
  • People rambling and talking to themselves
Sometimes I avoid them but that is not always possible.
One of these things is definitely not like the others. Someone sleeping is scary to you? Hell even someone drinking a beer is a ridiculous thing to be scared of.

And what did you say to them?

If you kept quiet, you are part of the problem!
The person doing this has already shown they don't care about shame. There have been numerous incidents where someone told them to keep quiet and were attacked. Sometimes fatally. I don't think that's a "normal" case but the few times I've done it they kept playing stuff out loud so the confrontation was for nothing.

I'm not sure I believe this. This individual is known to more than one person here, and has killed people, but is still riding with their music too loud?

And you all are worried about their music?

If one is too chicken to speak out, then perhaps we can be spared their 1st world whinging.

By "the person" I meant anyone who does that. But to be fair every single person arrested for that sort of an offence has MULTIPLE warrants or probation conditions they've breached before.

This sort of stuff happens more frequently than it should!

They love letting them loose again to cause more chaos. It seems like whoever makes the laws are in favour of having random victims suffer.

It's not the laws that are the problem. It's that the province is starving the judicial system.
And the provincial jail system, requiring too many having to be bailed.

And the mental health system. Making it difficult to get treatment.

And community housing - leaving more on the street.

And I wonder what’s next? Ford wants Crown Attorneys to be elected in Ontario just like the U.S. District Attorneys are?

Not just sleeping but homeless with all their belongings strung out and smelling like they crapped their pants.

As for the beer, look. The TTC is not the the place to drink booze. If you want a beer after work wait until you get home, don't open it on a subway car full of school kids.

Time and a place but nobody should be getting drunk on a subway car at 5 pm
