Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

This project is just the biggest turd that the residents and taxpayers of Mississauga can't seem to scrape off their shoes. Metrolinx is good at creating problems and afraid of fixing them. Case in point. Last week you might recall how some customer and staff vehicles were trapped when curbs were being poured without notice at the business I work for. Today, I made a special trip to work to do my regular onsite visit and both driveways are blocked off. Total waste of my time and gas. Pissed, I called the office manager at home to ask her if she got any notice of this and she had been speaking to them as late as Thursday and they didn't mention it. It is especially aggravating since I had been feeling a little unwell. When I got back home I thought I should check my temperature learned I have a fever of 102!

For the last six weeks I've had nothing but grief with both company internet connections (have both Bell and Rogers for redundancy) going awol for hours at a time. The low bandwidth Bell connection just disappears completely for hours at a time and the Rogers one has so much latency it is largely unusable.

Metrolinx in the past has flooded our building, damaged our infrastructure and seems to be completely unaccountable.

The more I experience this thing, the more I am convinced that whatever has been spent should be viewed as a sunk cost, nuked from orbit, and just have the roads put back together. This thing ain't gonna make trips any faster or more efficient. I know this will be an unpopular opinion but after seeing and experiencing this cluster for years now, I really believe it.

No pictures (I couldn't stop) but they are apparently stripping pavement in preparation for paving. Hard to tell as I just saw crews standing around doing no work but get in the way of everything. These are largely businesses on this stretch (Medical, veterinary etc) so this stuff should be done overnight.
All of this is 100% why when people in Brampton had mentioned wanting to run LRT's down Bovaird, Queen, or Steeles after becoming infatuated with Hurontario, I told them that unless it were done without ML having to oversee everything, they'd be better off building BRT's. That, or they hire a dedicated rail company to do all the infrastructure installation with subcons doing the roadwork that does not include installing or touching the rail ties or rail itself, unless it's just to help them unload.

We already have rapid lines running through the aforementioned streets - It would be significantly more affordable in the long term to do the road works to extend the roads to however long they need to be, and then expropriate the required amount of lanes to run dedicated bus lanes as they're required both ways. Queen Street may be a touch more difficult where they may need to start at Queen/Centre, but that's a discussion for another thread.

Talking to ML is like talking to a brick wall when all you have is posters and boilerplate plaques with information that are not related to anything you're asking. They're just doing what they do because the government is not holding anyone in ML accountable despite ML being a crown corporation. I find that when we look at projects like the ION LRT, Metrolinx wasn't a major stakeholder. They provided guidance and support, but they weren't the project owner.

All this to say, I hate having to keep changing my estimate on when the project is going to complete.

What is the status for the Alstom Citadis cars being built for the Hurontario line? Have any been completed? Not that it appears there is a completed carhouse to deliver them to... ?

The OMSF has been built a long time ago. There are quite a few LRV's sitting in the yard on rails. I dont remember the exact number, but I have taken photos of them a while ago.

I don't how true it is, but all 27 LRV's are supposed on site with a few out in the yard, Given December 2024 was to be the opening day and now way down the road, it is very possible they are all here. Know idea what work has been done on them since there is no place to do any testing but the yard and all LRV's that I been able to get a shot of have paperwork in the front window. They are now well place at the west end of the yard and hard to get a clear shot of them.

Thank you for letting me know, I appreciate it!
No worries. I was trying to find a photo of it for you but it took me a while. There may be more within the facility, or more delivered, or more sitting at the Alstom factory waiting to be delivered. This was taken quite a while ago.

@drum118 It looks like we've had such a mild winter so far that it's full steam ahead into the new year.

There has been six cars in the car in the yard since June and the inside is supposed to be plug with the rest if the fleet. They have moved all six cars to the outside track since I saw them that were on two tracks on the inside tracks.

Things started to pickup in September starting with trackwork and by October they were moving full throttle for 2026 work. The this winter winter is not as mild or warm with less snow as last year, It is supposed to be more colder with more snow in the coming months compared to last year that will slow things down compared to what was done in Q1

Don't know if Hillcrest intersection is open as plan but concrete road in place as of Friday when I return the car. Did not have a look at King St and the Fire station work to see how close they were having those intersection open.

You will have to keep an eye on Brampton as I don't see I will be up there tell next year at this time.

I am still working on my backlog of photos with more for the corridor to come.

Any source for when the first cars were delivered?
I don't have any official sources, maybe Drum or someone else will have a better idea. There may be something in this post about it, but I'm not too sure.

In 2024 is all I know and not sure if it was the one in Kingston trying to deal with Ottawa issue or it was the 2nd one. ML is very tight lips on the fleet and most things for the corridor that even ward councillors cannot get a straight answer outside of a opening date.. The rest is hear say

More upon my site

All the curb or the northbound lane in place from Pinewood to north of Cousins. All driveways for business saw paving for the temporary sidewalk. Work is nearing completion from Pinewood to the South Service Rd.

Barriers have been place across the new northbound lanes to stop drivers using it and took them long to due considering it was to be open by now,

They have prepared the ground were the last of the southbound curb is to go and open the walkway to Englewood from the north end of the wooden sound barrier wall.

Nothing new for the PC station,

Hard to say if concrete has been poured for the Northbound track at King or been protected to have it done on Monday with southbound ready to be done as well.
