Speaking of... Jon Steward had a very good monologue the other day on the current administration laying down the groundwork for the Venezuela war using the actual Bush/Cheney playbook. Including everyone's favorite taking point - Weapons of Mass Destruction. Yes, folks, they are about to invade Venezuela to stop the spread of weapons of mass destruction:

Some photos were taken today of new plaques have been installed for all presidents on the exterior of the White House, however in typical fashion, the ones for Obama and Biden mock them:

A giant TACO tonight, we all fell for it, again. Instead of announcing a invasion of Venezuela, he just rambled on about supposed "accomplishments" and complained that Democrats "destroyed" everything, and peddled his grift (Trump RX).

The one that has me concerned the most was about having a new federal reserve chair.

That sounded alot like him firing the current one and bringing in his own guy.

Trump announced a naval blockade of Venezuela on Tuesday. A naval blockade is the equivalent of a declaration of war so in essence the US is already at war with Venezuela. If the Epstein files are released on Friday this war could become "kinetic" the end of this week otherwise I don't expect an actual invasion anytime soon.

Those plaques are insane, right out of North Korea. But on Ukraine the criticism of Obama is spot on. Obama was distracted by jangling keys in Iraq and Afghanistan, and failed to uphold the security agreement the US signed with Ukraine, and failed to act before Russia invaded Crimea.

Still, it's petty to air those grievances on a plaque in the White House.
I also do agree with the criticism of both the US and UK administrations for failing to uphold their security and sovereignty guarantees to Ukraine they gave in exchange for nuclear disarmament.
As far as "failing to act before Russia invaded Crimea", not sure what they could have done preventatively. Russian troops were already stationed in the Crimean naval base at Sevastopol that Russia was leasing from Ukraine. It took them less than 2 days to occupy the whole peninsula unopposed. And it's not like anyone saw it coming. It came out of the blue. Is there any evidence US had prior intel of the annexation plan? To me it seems like there was no prior plan. Seems to me that Putin just decided to do this on a whim to punish Ukraine for exiling his bellowed puppet president Yanukovich.

Much like how "but Venezuela are kind of a bad regime", making any space or consideration for what may be correct here is misguided. These plaques are misinformation at best and complete bullshit at worst. Trying to credit them with any sort of correct information, whether rightly or wrongly, is misguided, IMO. These are abhorrent, despicable people and their views should be given zero space to breathe.

After Trump succeeded in his ridiculously narcissistic quest to get his name added to the Kennedy Center this afternoon, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took to social media to brag about the “unanimous” decision in a truly pathetic show of boot-licking.

“I have just been informed that the highly respected Board of the Kennedy Center, some of the most successful people from all parts of the world, have just voted unanimously to rename the Kennedy Center to the Trump-Kennedy Center, because of the unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building. Not only from the standpoint of its reconstruction, but also financially, and its reputation. Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this will be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt attain new levels of success and grandeur.”

But it turns out this was not the case at all, and the Trump administration was lying…AGAIN. Rep. Joyce Beatty serves as an ex officio member of the Kennedy Center and shared a very different version of events.

“I'm Congresswoman Joyce Beatty. I'm sitting here in my congressional office in Washington, DC, just ending a call with the Kennedy Center, where I serve as an ex-officio member. I am bringing this to you live today because what you may hear is that there was a unanimous vote to rename the Kennedy Center, the Trump Center.”

“Be clear. I was on that call. And as I tried to push my button to voice my concern, to ask questions, and certainly not to vote in support of this, I was muted.”

“Each time I tried to speak, I was muted. Participants were not allowed to voice their concerns who were online. Yet it was said at the end, it was a unanimous vote.”

“Clearly Congress has a say in this. This center, the Kennedy Center, was created by Congress. I think it's important for us to know that this is just another attempt to evade the law and not let the people have a say.”

“As a strong supporter of the arts, as someone during my entire time here in Congress, I have participated in the Kennedy Center's programs and I salute all the artists who have performed there.”

This is completely unsurprising, as the Trump team lies about literally everything, but it also goes to show just how committed they are to authoritarian strong-arming anyone and everyone who disagrees with them about ANYTHING, including something as stupid as renaming a famous concert hall after a demented old rapist.
