GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Unsurprisingly, the idiot dump truck driver did not have space to clear the tracks, yet chose to enter the railroad right-of-way.
If that happened in Florida the Bluesky urbanists would have been jumping to blame Brightline.

As for the 11 minutes saving from express services in posts further above, John Tory was willing to spend hundreds of millions if not billions to save drivers half that.

Yeah, even I was surprised though. I expected a couple hundred, not a few hundred. A few notes form my short jaunt to Mount Pleasant / from Georgetown:
  • Quite a few parents with younger kids as well, which is shocking when it means getting their butts up before 7 to make the train, pack, dress and go.
  • Someone was walking on the tracks just before it rolled into Guelph. Luckily between me hollering at them and the train blasting them with the horn, they got off the track in time, but it was close, too close. The tracks bend there, and the train's still going at a good clip at that point.
  • The doors being restricted west of the accessibility coach at Guelph is getting really annoying. I totally forgot too. Coming back, there was a huge queue of people lined up west of the accessibility coach to get off. They need to extent that platform or start using the south platform ASAP.
  • The first westbound train back to Kitchener was slightly delayed by a CN train (a single loco hauling a long line of car carriers).
  • I still can't believe how slow it is pulling in and out of Georgetown. That mainline platform can't come soon enough.

I know GO just improved service on the Kitchener so with that in mind.........

If I was just an average person who wanted to go from Bramalea to Union and back but not in rush hour, how frequent is the service and what about Saturday/Sunday? Also what about service at 10PM or later?

Several projects pushed out to late 2026, including the Mount Joy passing track and Stouffville GO turnback signal, or removed all together from the latest Dec 1 CPG file.

This is why we don't believe you, Metrolinx.... and why we save your old documents, so we know when you have descoped things without announcing it.

Procurement on Georgetown Station - not until 2027.

Looks like Danforth Station is also set for procurement but not until late 2027. What does that say about express service on the LSE ?

PS - the Guelph Sub improvements were mentioned in the same preview document - in 2019.

I thought I originally posted this in the GO Construction thread, so I'm moving my comparison of the CPG file over there.

We should start tracking this in a spreadsheet.

Outside of rush hour, Bramalea receives consistent 30 minute westbound service at 4 & 34 minutes after the hour. First train west 6:34am, last at 30 minutes at 10:34pm. There is also an 11:34pm departure, usually the last of the night. Eastbound trips depart Bramalea at 00 and 24-28 minutes past each hour up until 10:26pm. There is a final departure at 11:26pm arriving at Union after midnight.. Not quite consistent 30 minute service but consistent nonetheless. There is still a counter peak quirk where eastbound service goes to hourly (but you asked about outside rush hour..) In total, rush hour & express service in, there are now 78 daily trips to/from Bramalea

Weekend service is hourly eastbound 8am-2pm, then goes 2 tph from 2:28pm till last train at 11pm. Westbound starts at 8:48am hourly, adding half hourly departures at 3:18pm until last train at 11:48pm. Total 50 trips both ways daily. From Bramalea. Service and frequencies thin out the further west you go..
