Hudson's Bay Company

@Northern Light

Thoughts?

Worlds largest pot shop perhaps?

Mercifully, pot shops seem to have been a gold rush fad. They were literally everywhere but easily less than half remain, probably a third.

I think “something sweet” will be some sort of Christmas themed activation, maybe gingerbread houses or candy canes.

Confirmed to be Holiday windows that CF are leasing out, potentially on at least 3 sides of the building (Richmond, Bay and Yonge. The article doesn't suggest there will be windows on Queen which I guess makes sense given the OL construction): https://retail-insider.com/retail-i...rview-reignites-torontos-hbc-holiday-windows/

Apparently the 7 windows along Yonge have already been leased to a not-yet-revealed tenant.

If I were Canadian Tire, this feels like the ideal way to promote their HBC Stripes products but we shall see if they go that route.

Also kinda funny that CF is actually paying attention to the Richmond side of the building since HBC basically ignored it for years.

To their credit, Richmond has felt like a highway with nothing but garage entrances and parking lots there for decades. By the time Bay-Adelaide Centre was built, HBC was busy trying to survive.

The stretch of Richmond now feels more woven into the urban fabric although if I ever come across Chris Moise, I’d love to give him a piece of my mind. How has Cloud Gardens been fenced for over a decade? Adjacent construction has been finished for years already.

City website says it’s reopening by end of 2026 - though I seem to remember an earlier 2024 or 2025 date!

It has repeatedly been changed, I remember seeing "end of 2025" not too long ago.

Toronto.ca: The Conservatory is closed until late 2026 due to planned restoration work. Stairs, ramps and terraces will remain closed until restoration work is completed.

There's been zero work done behind that fence for years. That's right: they haven't even started any restoration work. City deadlines mean nothing if they can just change them with a couple of clicks.

We all saw how fast Chris Moise was to spend city money to rush through the change of Yonge Dundas Square's name but there is zero cash or haste to re-open a park that's been behind a fence for over a decade.

He needs to be voted out. He's an embarrassment.

I've always been curious of this. What is Cloud Gardens and this area supposed to be? Is it a public park?

Some insight from Primaris REIT.

The Lime Ridge Mall location has suitors.
