Have you seen the close-up video of the shooting? If you haven't, I don't recommend that you or anyone else view it. What is seen cannot be unseen (it's horrific).

The fact that the shooter didn't hit the head or go for a second shot, kind of negates the idea that this was some kind of professional hit.

The second Charlie was struck in the neck; he was effectively dead. It was obvious from the blood gushing out from the neck wound (sorry to be so graphic). There was no way that he was going to survive such a grievous injury, despite what must have been valiant efforts at the Hospital.

Are you a doctor? People have survived injuries like this. Kirk was still alive when transported to the hospital and AP reported he was there being treated in critical condition.

200 yards away is where the shooter was, and that isn't a "very long distance" in terms of rifle hunting. In fact, scopes recommended for that range are in the area of 40mm (in other words, not very big). You don't even need to be prone to make shots at that range, which is generally only recommended for shots greater than ~350 yards. Why would any professional sniper risk being that close to the target if they don't absolutely need to be, and again why wouldn't they take a security shot?

I grew up on a farm, and regularly used the family .22. My uncle (then RCMP Sergeant) would take my brother and I skeet shooting when we visited. As an Air Cadet (back before they switched to air rifles) we trained on small caliber bolt rifles nearly identical to those used in the olympics. I'm telling you right now, I could probably have made a shot the size of a human at that range.

Am I of the skill level of a professional assassin? Because I can tell you right now, I certainly don't believe I am.

As I said, every U.S. infantryman in required to hit a(n I believe 6") target at 300 yards using iron sights alone. 200 yards for a human sized target would not be difficult for just about anyone with a small amount of training; like just about anyone who grew up in a state in which hunting is pretty common. Y'know, like Utah is.

Time will tell, but IMO this was the work of a professional assassin, and I suspect that he had confederates inside the United States.

I saw the video, it was one hell of a shot. But It's America, you don''t need to be a professional assassin or have military training to shoot like that. Any gun nut can go to a shooting range or the woods to hone their skills. And the gun was probably purchased legally.

I admittedly haven't seen at lot of clips of him but I don't recall hearing him call for outright violence against others. I found him to be arrogant and dismissive, but a decent debater who shone when he was up against people who were not, which he tended to attract (perhaps the clips purposely focused on that, IDK). That he was against Republican or right wing touchstones like immigration, sexual identity, etc. is without question but advocating against something is not necessarily violence against something.

Saying that school shootings are a fair trade for having guns is advocating violence. Saying that children should be made to watch executions is advocating violence. Saying LGBTQ should be stoned to death is advocating violence.

A youtuber for children took quotes from the bible to justify pride month celebration and charlie just said in response that he shouldn't because it also says "gay people should be stoned". He never said it on his behalf.

…and finally, does anyone know what the shooter’s motivation was here. I’ve tried to look this up…only to find mainstream media types eulogizing Kirk, which made me want throw up. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places. /sigh

They detained a person of interest, who has since been released. I don't know if they know who the shooter is. The person was apparently seen on surveillance footage dressed in dark clothing, from a rooftop a couple hundred meters away.

The whole Thomas Crooks thing was a bit weird.

The chances of a bullet just barely grazing your ear so as to leave a tiny wound that heals in days is rather unlikely. We'll never know, but I would not be surprised in Crooks was a stooge that shot a random person in the crowd and Trump used an old WWE trick of using a razor to nick his ear while he was down. Why on earth would Secret Service let him get up and do his fist pump pose in front of the flag while there was an active shooter... The way the Secret Service were handling security at the event, and seemingly ignoring members of the public pointing to Crooks on the roof of that building is odd.

If we're going tinfoil speculation, Kirk was one of the few on the right pushing for a full release of the Epstein info, and Trump apparently released info about his shooting before the press even got the chance. People are already jumping to that conclusion it was a government silencing.

Agreed, but the longer we go without a shooter being caught the more likely we enter into conspiracy territory.

Combine this with Netanyahu/Israel being oddly on-top of everything the past day and it all comes across as very strange. Kirk provides a distraction from both Epstein and Qatar.

Like I just mentioned, the Mauser 30-06 is a conventional low capacity, bolt-action rifle commonly used in big game hunting. It can be easily acquired in most jurisdictions and even if there was gun control, it wouldn't have prevented his murder.
